Work knives

Spyderco K2, I am a farmer/diesel mechanic.
It’s simply the most capable folder I've ever encountered.
Carries very slim, 10v stands up to abuse and keeps on keeping on.
I do wish it was magically more corrosion resistant but hey you can’t have it all.

I do have a few razor/utility knives between my truck, shop and tool boxes but my knife is always on me.

Engineer. Until the "virus of unknown origin" appeared, I worked in a cube farm. Because of work regulations, I was limited to a 2" blade and an overall opened length of 4.5". So Spyderco Manbug or a small traditional was the order of the day.

Nowadays I telecommute. So I carry any frickin' thing I want. But I find a knife with a blade length of about 3" to be about right for my actual needs.

Retired UPS Driver,

The bottom Frontier I carried for about the first 15 years. The Camillus Lev-R-Loc in the middle was originally a non-serrated model, but I lost that one on a hunting trip after just 5 years, the one pictured (it’s replacement) was for the final 10 years. The Socom is just for size comparison.

Prior to UPS, Lineman w/Buck-119 & Razor Knife.

I drive a low-boy! Moving equipment from jobsite to jobsite.. Always fun moving a 350,000 # , 14 ft. wide machine thru Manhattan on a crazy Friday night!!! Oversize loads can only be moved between 10pm & 4am in NYC... All 5 boros of the city
Local 282 teamsters.
Im also a tree climber n do some smaller jobs now that I'm old n fat...Doing both for 30+ yrs

I've always carried a knife. I try to carry all my knives. Always have! No sense in me having them otherwise!

I manage an IT Dept. In the office I use a multi-tool and box cutter.

I keep the box cutters in a draw with some cheap folders. The last time I was in the office , some of my guys left folding knives out on their desks. I laughed to myself looking over the choices they made.:)

When I work remotely , I carry anything I want.

Hello everyone I've been thinking about the blades I carry for work which is usually a leatherman multitool, a spyderco tenacious, and a razor knife of some kind. And it got me wondering.what kinds of knives does everyone carry and what do you do for a living?
I don’t have much use for a knife at work other than the occasional opening of a box or cutting fruit. A slipjoint is perfect for my daily needs, that is until I get my Chris Reeves knife I have on order next year 😂 btw, I design custom cabinetry.

Industrial Electrician, mostly 480 but I'm allowed to work up to 2,400. It gets your attention when you pop open a cabinet and see three fuses the size of beer cans, staring back at you.

For the first couple years after I changed departments (they got rid of my old job), it was an Alox Electrician.

(Bonus flashlight content)

In the meanwhile, I started collecting more traditional electrician-pattern knives, and took my Camillus to work with me one day for a change of pace.

I decided I like the Camillus better than the Alox, so it's become my work knife.

I work in a food factory where I have been employed for 31 years. I have carried a little bit of everything over the years, but the ones that were carried the most were a Hong Kong made stainless lockback, a cheap no name multitool, and an old Camillus made Craftsman lockback gifted to me by a coworker. When I moved into the Maintenance Storeroom I carried a SAK explorer with the American flag scales because I loved the magnifying glass to help read part numbers off of bearings and such. Been a Maintenance Planner for years now and I change almost every day. I had a SAK Tinker that I delegated as my work knife but got bored carrying the same thing all the time so now I only carry a knife two or three days tops and then I switch to something else

The Hong Kong special I don’t have any info on, someone gave it to me as a gift back in the 80’s I think. I recently polished the scratches out of the blade and cleaned it up and resharpened it and it took a nice edge. Not sure what kind of steel was in those things

I carry in a Horizontal crossdraw sheath. This works very well for me whether I'm horseback, on the ground, or working in the shop. Its out of the way, easily reached with either hand, comfortable and secure:

After the second sentence, the rest of this post was read in The Critical Drinker’s voice. 😁

As a Nuclear Medicine technologist in a major hospital, I was expected to be using scissors for cutting up stuff. I didn't.

My EDC at work was for years, a Buck 112. Then in the later 1990s, I switched to a Leatherman. As the Leatherman line expanded and improved, I went from a basic (original) Leatherman to a Wave. When the newer, larger Wave models came out, I moved to one of them. I was attracted to the larger blade that deployed without unfolding the tool, but disappointed at the smaller SAK style scissors.

After 9/11, there was all this talk about a "new normal". Not much for me to change really, but . . .I began to carry my new large model Wave in a horizontal belt pouch every day, even when not at work . . .EDC.

That is/was my work knife . . .now my EDC.
