Work knives

Spyderco K2, I am a farmer/diesel mechanic.
It’s simply the most capable folder I've ever encountered.
Carries very slim, 10v stands up to abuse and keeps on keeping on.
I do wish it was magically more corrosion resistant but hey you can’t have it all.

I do have a few razor/utility knives between my truck, shop and tool boxes but my knife is always on me.
Gotta start carrying mine more, it's actually pretty pocket friendly,I have carried it to work a few times

When I did physical labor it was typically in a warehouse or box truck and I carried Benchmade and Cold Steel folding tantos, as the blade shape is good for popping tape and shipping straps. When I did property maintenance they came in handy too. In 2014 I went back to college, got my MS in the psychological profession and now I work from home thanks to the pandemic, so I carry whatever I want, limited only by what funny looks I want from my family. If/when I get a different job that requires me to go to an office, I'll carry something relatively stylish and non-threatening like a Twosun TS232.

Supply chain/Inventory analyst. Desk job but I'm one of the IT/fix it guys too. LM Wave+ and SAK Explorer are always on me at work. Sometimes I carry a pocket knife, sometimes I don't. If I do carry one, it is part of the EDC rotation. The bulk of my rotation is a Spyderco Endura or Endela, CS Ultimate Hunter, or BM Rift.

I'm a senior Cyber Security analyst, and I carry...uh, well, a pretty large selection of knives to work every day. On top of that, I always have a SwissChamp (or rather the SAK Cybertool these days) in my day bag, along with a couple of other knives because....well, I mean, I like knives. I post up in the "Which Knife or Knives Are You Carrying Today" on days when I remember to do so. Life is good.

Started as a laborer in construction, worked my way up the ladder, and after many years have been self employed in construction for over 40 years. As a youngster, I carried CASE/BOKER folding knives like stockman patterns, etc.

I had a couple of crackerjack superintendents for a few years and was busier supervising, estimating, scheduling and negotiating, so I carried a couple of sweet little BUCK gentleman's knives for a few years. I gave those FedEx boxes, packaging on reams of paper and loose threads on a button real hell!

Then I was off and on again in the field due to lack of talented craftsmen, so I had to put the tool bags back on from time to time. Had a few knives I didn't like, then found this place and the RAT 1 was just out and highly regarded and very affordable. Carried that as my main work knife (but as usual always had/have a traditional to compliment the bigger knives) for a while. Again, from a recommendation here, I bought an American Lawman. Splendid knife!

Now with the labor situation (or lack thereof) I have found myself back in the saddle on the job more than I would ever have guesses at my age. First came COVID and the surety that we were all going to die. Soon. Then the "great resignation". So still having extreme craftsmen/labor problems. Money isn't an issue; many folks just aren't working. So that means I need to pick up the hammer and tool bags again. To ease the pain, I bought a few knives to rotate around while I find myself going to the jobsite. The knives that get carried and used are a Cold Steel SR1 tanto, a Cold Steel BushRanger (great knife!), a Harnds "General" tanto, and a Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter. All great knives that work hard and will easily outlast me. I use them like I don't care about them and they are just fine. One gets dull, I grab the next one up.

I usually carry a PM2 to work but I work at a desk so the hardest thing my knife might do during the day is to peel an orange. Weekends I work around my house or in my workshop and I typically carry a Manix 2 LW in Rex45. I don't do any prying or hammering on that blade but I do cut or carve a variety of meterials up to and including aluminum. Long ago when I was a mechanic in my father's garage I carried a traditional Case folding knife.

I carry several cutters at work. :)

The three on the bottom on my person, the ones on top in the truck.

I’m a State Peace Officer for a natural resources agency - and it’s very possible I subconsciously picked my job based on the knives I’d get to play with.

Edit to add: I forgot about these mini trauma shears which are also in a pocket…

I think this thread needs more pictures. These coincide with my previous post.

Back to basics for me. 40+ years living and working with a sub 3 inch slipjoint ( Buck 303) showed me all I really needed. The Mnandi is even tougher then the Buck and proved itself everyday for almost two years doing everything a pocket knife should be called upon to do. Really not sure why I keep forgetting that…View attachment 1835659

Mostly desk duty at office job, where I am the rules, and I carry knives that make me happy when I look at them or play with them. That’s typically a function of thoughtfulness in design and thus mostly Spyderco. I know, very original. No name fixed blade on my desk, that I probably got ripped off on because I felt bad for the old guy selling it.

Leatherman nearby for small tasks.

Most frequent carries: Luft Avant, Para 3 LW and a Malibu.

32 years Inventory Control for a large manufacturer of commercial and residential beverage equipment.

About 10 years ago, they implemented a rule that no personal knives can be used on the property. We had to use a company provided utility knife like the one below in which the blade automatically retracts after each cut. Very inconvenient when making several consecutive cuts.

Nowadays, that rule is no longer enforced. Today it's this Buck 112 that I recently received.

I'm a technician in a clam hatchery and I'm around salt water all day long. So, I need something pretty rust resistant. For the last several months my carry has been the David Boye folder with a Leatherman Free P2 in my pocket and on my belt. Then I'll usually carry a Leatherman Crater in my bag just in case I need an extra Philips or standard screwdriver.

Retired last year as a Process writer/Trainer for UPS. Before the knife ban I carried a Spyderco Jess Horn. After the ban I snuck a Victorinox Ambassador up to my desk and it stayed until my last day on the job.
