Anyone planning on seeing it. I am going with the kids Friday.

I dunno, been back and forth on this one. I've been heavy into the zombie thing since the remake of Night of the Living Dead in the nineties, but I've kinda died out of it over the last year or so, just a little too much mainstream exposure, just feels a little "played out" for lack of a better term. Though I do love me some TWD...

In my mind it seems like the zombie "fad" has gotten so popular it warrants enough money to make Brad Pitt interested, but then again, it must be a big blockbuster if they have enough money to hire Brad Pitt. He doesn't always pick bad roles, Seven is in my top movie list of all time.

From the previews, I don't know if I can. The book was good, but the movie looks like it butchered it

And I'm with Dan, I'm kind of zombie-d out. There are still some good classic movies, but hell, you watch Chiller channel at midnight and there's zombie movies almost nightly. Evil tree sap that causes zombies, tainted candy that causes zombies, cell phone radiation that causes zombies.

I feel like if someone was going to remake Refer Madness, the movie would say that smoking pot would cause a zombie apocalypse.

I'm going tomorrow with my daughter for my birthday. I've been looking forward to it for a long time.

Wasn't the book just a collection of short stories about the zombie apocalypse?

Yup, but it was entertaining. This just looks like 28 Days Later on super mega zombie rage steroids

Apparently his production company purchased the book rights in '06.

Comcast had some cheesy B movie called "Pothead Zombies" or something of the sort on On Demand. I watched the first 5 min. because it had pretty coed zombie potheads! :D

If any body goes to see it please say how the zombies look cause I cant see them clearly
in the previews.

I read the book and loved it. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie. Looks like it will be good.

I went to see the early screening over here on Tuesday. I liked it well enough. Well-paced, well-acted, and they sure do know how to ratchet up the tension. Brad Pitt was good in it, even the other cast members, none of whom I've ever seen in anything else did great. Zombies were okay, typical fare, but it's definitely one of the better zombie movies out there. I'd watch it again. Sadly no real knife usage in the film, so only an 8/10.

Haha, but seriously, it's most definitely worth a watch even though it's most definitely not in the same class as Se7en. Then again, I loved Man of Steel, so if you didn't you might wanna take my review with a pinch of salt. :)

ETA: I haven't read the book, but I really enjoyed the movie on its own. Though it does get pretty tense at some points. I wouldn't take my mother to see it. I wonder if her heart could take it. Lol.

Kind of....it was like a collection of interviews of WWZ survivors after the tide had been turned, relating how everything began and unfolded. It's easy enough to spin a story line out of that; but I heard there were quite a few deviations from the events in the story. That, and how they changed the book's depiction of zombies, has people concerned that they might be watching an entirely different story with the same name as the book.

woo hoo I think we will see it this weekend.

It isn't a collection of short stories really, it is a collection of individual accounts in narrative form of events as they unfolded during the zombie apocalypse from the perspective of individuals who witnessed the events. The book covers a span of about 10 years from the outbreak to when they start to get things under control and start looking towards rebuilding and recovery. By that time most of humanity is dead though.

I thought the book was excellent. I hope the movie does the book justice.

I read the book and it is great! It comes from so many different perspectives, you never know what is going to happen next. I am really looking forward to the movie! Those fast zombies are scary!! :D

Personally I think this movie will sort of go the way of I Am Legend, having a similar premise to the book in some aspects but being overall a completely different story with the same name.
