World War Z

My son and I just got home from watching it. My daughter and her friend had to wait on the second showing as they were late and it sold out quick. Awesome movie, heard there are suppose to be 2 more. The noise the Zombies made were very bird like. They ended it well, could be more but if there are not it finished.

Just got home from seein' it. I read the book years ago, and well, it was way better. Not that the movie is terrible, but they packed a LOT into 2 hrs! And it has almost nothing to do with the book. There was a tiny easter egg reference to Max Brooks' other book, The Zombie Survival Guide, in the W.H.O. I won't ruin it if you've read it & go see the film. However, I gotta say, it's Friday night, and I never go see a movie on a weekend! I absolutely hate people as a whole, but we got there early, got our usual seat in the center in the back against the wall, and as the crowd actually filled the theatre, I realized the irony of it all. I went out on a Friday night & got in a crowd of people to see a zombie film! The only fascination I have with the zombie apocalypse is a world without all that crowd in it...

After reading over what you guys are posting here this sounds like a movie that should be seen, especially in a theater.

The crowd of people ran through my mind too.
The only two things I thought could have been better would have been a little more gore and the airplane crash was really pushing the unreal side. I am glad it did not have the F bomb every other word, that is getting very old to me. IMO people that use that word every other sentence sound very unintelligent.

I saw it last night and really enjoyed it. It was cool to see a zombie movie with such a big budget and such a big name in it. They did a great job with the special effects IMO. The pan out scenes of the hordes were really intense. They fought really hard to make Pitt's character not an action hero/shoot em up type, which I thought payed off. The addition of fast zombies really made the movie a lot more intense; they made them really fast and animal-like, pouncing and blind siding their victims. I didnt read the book but from what I have heard its pretty close. I hope it does well so we can see a sequel. My only beef is that in two distinct scenes they cut out gore to, I guess, keep it PG-13. Probably a smart move but eh! I dont like when producers and directors fight to keep something PG-13 when the movie could be improved by the freedom of an R rating. Just my thoughts!

Saw it last night, worth the money. Glad to see they can still make a great movie without a lot of nudity and Fbombs.

Saw the movie last night. I was also happy to see the lack of cursing and nudity, and more focus on quality. I really love the book, and although the was very different in almost every respect, I assumed it would be as the format of the book does not lend itself to a movie. I thought the movie was well done and entertaining.

The zombies were quite different than the zombies in the book, but I think that was to make the movie more suspenseful. Most people would be let down with the zombies from the book that one could escape by walking briskly. The book would be more fitting for a TV series, but we already have The Walking Dead for that.

Wasn't crazy about the zombies "motivation" being to spread the disease instead of just eating, but in a PG-13, a bunch of people being eaten alive would have been too much.

All in all I would give it a 4.5/5.

*SPOILER ALERT*

Well, i saw it today, and I can honestly say that, having read the book, it is NOTHING like it.... the story is different, the way it ends is utterly unrelated to anything mentioned in the book, and there's not a single character in the movie that is also in the book.

The ONLY recognizable thing is the Israeli wall (which ends completely differently than the book)

The zacks are different (fast zaks?) than in the book.

I genuinely don't see how it deserves the same name as the book at all really, but it's a VERY good zombie movie...

The whole invisible to zombies because you're sick thing (also not in the book) REALLY pissed me off, but that's a different gripe

... I assumed it would be as the format of the book does not lend itself to a movie.

A lot of people say that, but the book just screams "documentary" to me. Interviews, narrated flashbacks... sounds fine to me.

I don't really understand the anti-cursing and anti-nudity sentiment here, either. Movies are art, and directors and writers put thought into them, and there's a reason behind every editorial decision. They're not always unnecessary, I'd say rarely. I'd be more disappointed if cursing and nudity would've made a movie better but were instead stripped for censorship or audience rating reasons.

I read that the author of the book helped write the movie, too.

I don't see dropping cursing just to lower a rating from R to PG or adding it for that matter like that has been done in some cartoons to go from a G to PG. If it is needed then it is needed. The type thing that bugs me is having a movie like (off the top of my head) zero dark thirty,I was done watching it after about 15 min. I can't think of another movie with such a prolific use of the F word.Really made me dislike the characters.

Have not seen it yet.

If there are no good knife shots, maybe someone can try to get one of Jerry's knives into a sequel ?

IF a Regulator can be in a Resident Evil flick, why not a Busse on the big screen ?

I'm going to see this movie in about two hours and I am pretty gosh darn excited!

There is one good blade scene.

People eating other people is more obscene that nudity or cursing.

I watched this a few days ago and enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. I loved what Danny Boyle did to renew and freshen the zombie theme in recent years and WWZ seemed to have a similar mood/tone even though it was by another director altogether. I found the scenes in the "lab" to be the best of the film and time flew by...it was over before I knew it. In a world full of total crap zombie films, made by complete hacks, it is awesome to see something that is unique and has substance.

I really enjoyed the movie. After reading all that had been said here, I went into the movie without expecting it to be like the book and I think that helped.

I agree with the lab scenes being the most climactic part of the film. To anyone debating whether to go see World War Z, I say it's worth it.

Going to see it tomorrow night! It took everything in me not to read everyone's posts but I was strong! I can't wait to see it :D

You're going to love it, just remember not to expect it to be like the book.
