World War Z

saw the movie last night - definitely something different - more high speed action rather than survival horror - i liked it anyway

i just hope the real zombies wont be so ultra fast when they finally come :D

People eating other people is more obscene that nudity or cursing.

In this concept of zombies, they aren't so much eating each other as spreading a parasitic virus. Bite and keep running.

I really enjoyed the movie. I didn't read the book, and I think that help me enjoy the movie more.

*Spoilers*

Overall, I loved it. This is also one of the friendlier zombie movies out there. The fellow humans are actually helping each other for the most part. It's quite refreshing by showing fast zombies. Fast zombies are scary, but fast leaping zombies that'll stop at nothing to get to you such as bashing their skulls against windows or just have a massive wave to break down any barrier? Friggen terrifying. The fast zombies made sense, since the host that were targeted were healthy host and their bodies have yet to decay. I do like how the zombies will only target healthy host, it's a very interesting idea especially coming from a biological perspective. My only complaint is how the end was rushed.

After seeing this movie, I'm a little more scared of a zombie apocalypse if the zombies in our z-day are like that... I would hate to have to fight those or run from them on foot.

A lot of people say that, but the book just screams "documentary" to me. Interviews, narrated flashbacks... sounds fine to me.

I don't really understand the anti-cursing and anti-nudity sentiment here, either. Movies are art, and directors and writers put thought into them, and there's a reason behind every editorial decision. They're not always unnecessary, I'd say rarely. I'd be more disappointed if cursing and nudity would've made a movie better but were instead stripped for censorship or audience rating reasons.

I read that the author of the book helped write the movie, too.

For some reason the documentary idea never even crossed my mind, but that would have a been a perfect format. That was what I loved from the book so much, all the different views and cultural reactions.

And to clarify, I don't mind cursing and nudity in movies if it is warranted. I just don't like when it is thrown in and seems unnatural. Under the circumstances of World War Z I would expect much more cursing than there was in the movie, but I don't know that impending mass extinction would get too many in the mood for romance.

I saw the movie this past weekend, and yep, I agree. I'm sure I'd be pretty foul-mouthed in that situation, too :p but after having seen it, I am pretty impressed with what they without the cursing. It had its annoying parts (ugh, helpless kids in horror movies), but it was fun overall.

SPOILER, highlight to see better:
I wonder if that Israeli soldier was being chased by the zombies in the WHO lab. She'd lost her hand, so you figure she'd be one of the weak ones that the zombies ignored. They never made a zombie chase her explicitly, though--she was always with the other two healthy guys, Brad Pitt and the lab director--so I wonder if they made that ambiguous on purpose. They never explored why that soldier in the South Korean base has that leg tweak, either--was it a mechanical injury, or was it some virus?

I LOVED IT!!!!!! Brad Pitt was, as always, amazing! I was on the edge of my seat during the whole film. . . .

I saw this last night, biting my nails the entire time! So suspenseful, I really thought it was top notch.

May have to go by myself though. The wife hates anything that doesnt say Disney in the opening credits. She can be a bit of a wimp when it comes to movies.

Saw it the day after it came out.... It really wasn't horrible.. but not THAT "Amazing"... I mean.. I was expecting something else... but hey it turned out well enough.. I figure it was worth it after its all said and done though...

I finally got to see it Saturday night.

As a movie it was very good. They did keep the suspense up and the action moved very well. That said it was nothing like the book, but what makes a good movie and a good book aren't always the same. Over all I liked it and would recommend it. Just keep in mind that it is nothing like the book.

It was definitely not like the book. . . and the book was awesome! I think that if they went with the way the book was written, (from different perspectives), it would have jumped around a lot more than it did already lol
