Phew... I've been talking with my girlfriend about the holiday we want to do this year. Instead of taking the plane to some warmer country we're thinking of doing a roadtrip. Curious as to how it turns out. The current plan is to go to Berchtesgaden, Germany (The Eagle's Nest) and back again. The trip should last several days, with several stops. Overall distance would be something of 3000 km to and back again. Psyched, but still a lot left to figure out...

I too have a bad cold. It sucks when its 80+ degrees out and i'm stuck inside.

Same here. Some lingering cough, but I can finally sleep through the night. So far, nobody in the house has got it, so I'm safe there.

About a month or 2 after my wife and I started dating, we did a trip to Vermont and back, to help her dad close his summer home for the winter. She said the same thing, that this will either make us or break us. That was 2600 round trip, and we're married now, so it worked out in the end. We both love to travel, so that helped.

My father in law was in the Eagle's Nest in WWII. He has artifacts he took while there. He has a book, titled "Adolph Hitler", and the illustrations are actual photos of Hitler glued in it. He said there was a world map on the wall, that he always kicked himself in the butt for not taking. The map was divided into sections as to what the Germans, Italians, and Japanese would rule over after they "won" the war.

My wife and I drove from south Texas to the Grand Canyon for our honeymoon.. hell of a trip, she got sick on the way there briefly then got bad sick on the way home and we had to hole up in the middle of nowhere while she recuperated. It was a fun trip overall, but given the chance again I would fly somewhere and relax on a beach instead of driving for a week. I figured it was our marriage stress test, that was 11 years ago, so far so good. Now the girl I drove 11,000 miles with... I haven't talked to her in about 13 years.

Damn Psyop. That looks awful close to the house, I hope everyone is okay.

Anybody talk to Erik this morning?
I havent heard from him today, but all of the tornadoes were well south of us as far as I know. As for us it really isnt very close to the house nothing much hurt other than the tree and it was a cool huge oak I didnt know that it was partly hollow.

page 9 by breakfast, but only page 12 by quittin' time? disappointed.

I'm glad it wasn't close to the house.
Looks like you will get some firewood out of the deal, at least.

I'm no gourmet (or gourmet photographer), but this turned out ok as a quick dinner: venison flank steak and greens from a beet.
Sauteed the venison in olive oil, salt, fresh ground pepper, turmeric, and nutmeg. Then added a bit more olive oil and sauteed the greens with a cover on the pan to steam 'em at the same time. Omnomnom.

We just had a severe storm warning for the north western part of the county. Doesn't affect me, but 60 mph winds, with half dollar size hail reported.

I dont have one big enough lol.

I do -- but it's the wrong shade of orange. :D
(Husky w/32" bar though, if you need to borrow it, let me know)

we had some brutally high winds, but no tornadoes close to us last night.
smoke and prayers for all those in Oklahoma & Arkansas, though.
Was pretty happy to see the worst of it missed Tulsa & Joplin for once, but have friends and family in/near OKC, too.
