Hey guys how are yah

Below is a transaction I did with Ak74auto which was possibly my worst one up till today. I have always solved every problem on any transactions and usually have none.

This trade did take place on Knife forums and it is posted there as well, but since this poster posts here a lot as well I just thought I would warn the other people here since this is an online community.

AJ1985 - BLACK
AK74auto – BLUE
JAMES NOWKA - RED
He only had 2 or 3 posts at that time so i asked him to send his stuff first. (I had a total of 20) :D

He stated he got burned by another transaction and didn't want to send his stuff first.

He got James Nowka to be the go between. We would both send our stuff to James and he would pass it on to the other party.

I told AK74auto that I will contact Derespina and he will send James the karambit.
(I sent the money to Derespina and he went to work on the karambit) I think the sheaths are handmade and take a bit of time from him

I'm quite bad at paraphrasing so I will just copy our private topic in regard to this.

PT

ME: My paypal has already been sent. (for shipping costs to James)
I'm posting here first, because everyone was part of this trade.
I just received the package and I very much appreciate the time you took James.

The below is for AK

My question is what does NIB mean exactly. I have half of a box which you flattened and sent to James. Torn as well as taped.
I can provide the email as well where it states. A NIB Spyderco Ronin without tek-lok for a NIB straight from Derespina Model 10. So i want to ask how exactly this will be solved.

take care and James thank you for being the go between and I hold nothing against you whatsoever.

"Hey Joe How are yah

I sent you and email already and have not received a response yet. No worries I understand you might be busy. I would just like to finish this transaction with you and be on my way. Spyderco RONIN is not NIB there isn't even a full box and to save a bit of money the box was flattened when shipped, because the shipping box was way to small.

This is the only option that is fair that comes to my mind.
Pay me the money I'm out and also the shipping fees and I will send the knife back to you. $93+10+15 = $118

I would just like to solve this and have no ill will towards you, but please keep me updated on your decision so I may know what is going on.

AK74auto:

First of all the actual knife was "NIB" when I shipped it. Second just like Wal-mart or other places, boxes gets damnaged because of handling. Third up until this point I have not appriecated your tone of emails, meaning you are accusing me of being a liar and/ or theif. I kept my end of the bargin. Mr. James has not objected to any part of the transaction.

I have been fair in my dealings with you, I have incurred more shipping charges, my knife was shipped out as promised /when promised, and yet I had to wait for 2 to 3 weeks for you to finish your part of the trade.

I am not going to pay you $118.00 and have you send me back a knife that you have had in your possession for atleast a week and which may now be in suspect condition. As far as I am concerned our transaction is final, and I will not be dealing with any business with you ever again.

Signed,
Joseph
P.s. Of all the knife or weapons related trades yours has been the only one that has cost me this much grief.

First of all the actual knife was "NIB" when I shipped it.

Could you give me a defintion of (box) then. The box you used to ship the knife to James is smaller than the Spyderco Ronin Box. I received half of the Spyderco box (the top half).

So if the item (Spyderco RONIN) is bigger than the parcel box. You get a bigger box. You should have seen the box James sent the knife in it could have fit three RONIN.

Have you seen Spyderco boxes they have two halves

Second just like Wal-mart or other places, boxes gets damnaged because of handling.

How does a box get damaged when it isn't even shipped with the knife in the first place. I have half of a flattened box.

Third up until this point I have not appreciated your tone of emails, meaning you are accusing me of being a liar and/ or theif. I kept my end of the bargin. Mr. James has not objected to any part of the transaction.

You had your wife send the knife, and maybe she isn't a knife person. A box is just as important to a collector. Thats why I asked NIB
James was the go between, but i haven't asked him to be involved. I have sent you two email a few days apart. If you feel like I'm calling you a liar or a thief you need to develop thicker skin.

I have been fair in my dealings with you, I have incurred more shipping charges,

Your point being
You came to me with the trade and you agreed to everything so why are you complaining about shipping costs now.
I'm in Canada and your in the US ofcourse shipping would be more.

my knife was shipped out as promised /when promised, and yet I had to wait for 2 to 3 weeks for you to finish your part of the trade.

I contacted Rich derespina to send you the Karambit and you can see when I paid for it by paypal. It isn't my fault if he was late or got behind. He makes the kydex sheaths and sends em out with the knife. How is that my fault.

I am not going to pay you $118.00 and have you send me back a knife that you have had in your possession for atleast a week and which may now be in suspect condition.

Yeah thats why it took you a few days to reply to your post after I sent another email eh. I have two other Spyderco Ronins and If I needed to use them I would. Why in my right mind would I emphasize NIB if I wanted to use the Ronin and already had two. One which is used and the other which is NIB.

As far as I am concerned our transaction is final, and I will not be dealing with any business with you ever again.

That was pretty self explanatory wouldn't you say.
Transaction is only final when we both are satisfied. If you choose to end this transaction at this point I will be forced to go to knifeforums.

Signed,
Joseph

Ditto would be my response, but really grief is such a subjective thing. If my two emails have caused you grief then you shouldn't be trading or selling.
btw if you needs pics of anything I will be more than happy to send those as well or post em on here.

P.S If my tone has offended you for that I will apologize, but I only stated the truth.

Ok
Here is my imput...

I did not feel the Ronin was NIB. The conidition of the box was shipped exactlly as it was recieved. I opened the postal box and looked inside then repackaged it at the post office.
But I was not a judge of condition... all I was involved for was to make sure both knives were shipped.

James Nowka "I make your Collection more Valuable!" By using mine....

Thanks James the biggest reason I haven't contacted you regarding this is that you were the go between. You helped facilitate the trade and took time out of your life to help me and Ak. I do appreciate your help.

I like to tie up loose ends and not have things hanging over me. It has been a day and I have not received a response from you. I can only give you another 12 hours and then I will post a thread on knifeforums of your actions.

I urge you to reconsider because it would be very beneficial for your reputation. It takes a long while to build a good reputation, but only a few minutes to malign it.
Please take a bit of time and think about your decision.

You can see above that the Spyderco box couldn't even fit the parcel box sent from AK to James.
James sent me AK74auto box, knife & half of a Spyderco box in a much bigger box.

here's my opinion:

If the box was important you should have mentioned it before the sale was completed.

Concerning the knife, if it's not to your satisfaction then the deal should be reversed and you should be able to send the knife back.

Hey Dave how are yah

The knife was stated as NIB when I said I will trade. I even sent him an email stating one nib ronin for one nib derespina straight from rich to you.

Cross forum flame wars are not a good way to build your reputation. ;)

I do apologize but this is not imo a cross forum flame. Everyone here posts on many different forums, and if I do get taken are you saying I should just leave it at that. I doubt he will post on knife forums from now on with having only 3 posts.

I do not like to get taken, but even if this doesn't get solved I still would like a record to be known that this happened by this poster.

My email:
No worries I'll have Rich Derespina send the knife to the moderator and then he can send it to you.

Please send me the address for the moderator since I can not get in knifeforums at this time.

So basically its a NIB Spyderco Ronin without teklok for a NIB derespina Model 10 karambit straight from Rich Derespina

take care & soon as you let me know the moderators address I'll contact Rich so send over the Karambit to him

aj

Ak emails back

Here is the Mod's address . I will forward you his paypal info asap . Whatever it cost you to ship the knife to him is approximately it will cost me for the mod to ship to you and vice versa . The Mod did say that we need to cover paypal charges too , but that should only be 3-4%

Thank
Signed ,
Joseph
Hi
My address is
I am not sure what it will cost to send the knives... but I would think it will be what it costs to send it to me...

Jim

Here is the email I sent

A deal is not a deal until both parties are satisfied.

This is not a deal..............

NIB means NEW IN BOX

really not that hard to understand. If he had told you that the box was trashed or partial then the deal wold have been fair if you agreed but he obviously misrepresented the package or does not understand the meaning of NIB, which many people don't unfortunately.

Good luck getting your money back. deal is definitely not done yet.

This deal is not done. The deal is never done until everyone is all sunshine and butterflies about it. And, yes, NIB means brand spanking new in a good condition box with some shelf wear.

This is not a cross-forum flame war unless some fool starts flaming another forum. I don't see any signs of that being imminent.

It's just I already have 2 Ronins one NIB and the other one a User. I wanted a NIB knife.

Really if you were a collector you would understand that the box is very important to some individuals.

take care
aj
It has been said and it is very true a box is just as important as the knife.

I have a quick question I'm horrible at paraphrasing. Is it possible to post what AK wife just sent me or would that be inappropriate.

I also advised AK's wife lisa that there is a thread regarding this on bladeforums.

She has stated AK is doing Military training and thats why he doesn't have internet weekdays so Lisa will have to be the middle person.

My only question is If he doesn't have internet weekdays how did he send me an email saying the deal is final on the 17 on the monday which is a weekday. No big deal, but if posters could tell is it okay to post the comments of AK's wife on here so there is more information available to everyone.

The email was sent, but they will basically not gimme a full refund, and only pay a partial refund for not having a box. I'm not happy with this options because I have two ronins (One user & one NIB and I really don't need another one.

Now that makes more sense.

First This is Ak's wife, Lisa. AK doesn't have internet access during the week days only during the weekend. He doesn't have access due to being at VA doing Military Training. I tired to reply to this threat of putting it up on the board last night but it didn't go through. Because I am not familiar with this board.

Anyways we are willing to work out something for the box, but not $118.00, because there is NOTHING wrong with the knife. The knife was shipped in factory condition. I know I am not a colllector and thought "it's" just a BOX. I guess I was wrong on that aspect on it. If my husband keeps a knife he uses it , if it doesn't become a trader. We are not knife collectors, so I don't consern myself about the condition of the "BOX".

We are willing to offset the difference for the "box" but not $118.00.
If you want to straighten this out you can pm us throught the board and we will work out something. But you will have to be willing to work through me, because ak's out of State.
Thanks,
Lisa

It was not meant as a threat, but Your husband said that the deal is final.

It was said it would be NIB. ( NEW IN BOX)
The knife isn't NIB

The knife was shipped in factory condition. I know I am not a colllector and thought "it's" just a BOX.

It isn't your fault your husband should have sent the knife.

I guess I was wrong on that aspect on it. If my husband keeps a knife he uses it , if it doesn't become a trader.

Your husband is a user, but him being a part of an online community of knife enthusuiasts should have undersood what NIB means to collectors.

We are not knife collectors, so I don't consern myself about the condition of the "BOX".

Okay then out of curiousity why did you even send half of the box.

We are willing to offset the difference for the "box" but not $118.00.

I do not need the knife to be a user. I already have two. One NIB & ONE USER. I would just like a NIB Spyderco Ronin or the total that I am out. $93 plus 10 plus 15 to send the knife back to you insuered and tracked.

I have advised Lisa a few hours ago that there is a thread here is as well and please to come and reply to it.

I do not want this to be one sided and she can come here and speak her mind.

I have a quick question I'm horrible at paraphrasing. Is it possible to post what AK wife just sent me or would that be inappropriate.

What more information do we need? Seems clear what's going on here -- he advertised a NIB knife, he sent a knife that is not NIB, and he is refusing to refund your money. What more do we need to know?

My only question is If he doesn't have internet weekdays how did he send me an email saying the deal is final on the 17 on the monday which is a weekday.

Surely it isn't very difficult to imagine how someone who usually doesn't have net access on weekdays could have had it long enough to send an email once. We don't really need to know the details of that, do we?

Sorry I posted after I asked. and your right i should change the topic to back on track. It's just I'm not happy with the knife being represented the way it was and then communication being closed as well. I always had a good record with everyone and now I have to deal with this on here. All this could have been solved with communication, but it was ended.

One, This is Lisa, ak's wife. I only came here because AJ directed me to this thread. Two, I can not believe this has been brought onto another board. You have not asked for your knife back not once, just money. I am sorry you felt like you had to come to another broad and air dirty laundry. I contacted you just a few hours ago trying to work something out.

What do you honestly think this is going to make me think. Are you saying I'm a liar and my husband has internet access. Because frankly that is low. Yes I do see this as one sided because you came here and done this after I ask you to contact me through PM's. I am sorry I have a life and don't sit on the computer waiting for replies. Because posting this doesn't look like you was willing to work through pm's.
