Worst YT reviewer/knife channel ?

That reviewer/review defines the phrase "exception to the rule." Obviously most YT reviewers are able to give you their opinion without going off the reservation (or planet) like that reviewer.

in all fairness there are plenty of good channels and even more crummy ones.

I've only seen one YT review, and it was by nutunfancy. I don't think they could get much worse, but I'm not watching anymore just in case.


Well, I have seen many posted here through YT, and most of those I liked. But I'll never go to you tube again looking for them.
I've been going to Blade since the 90's, and some SE shows longer than that, so I do get to handle most of the new stuff there.

And why is that? Nutn is about as thorough with his knife reviews as you want to get. After watching him review a knife or anything else for that matter, If you don't know more about it than when you started you weren't paying attention.

Yes..yes I know it seems to be somewhat fashionable here to dis the Nut...whatever... I like his reviews.
 
So.. all because during the course of the review, nutn called people who tend to buy the same knives as others/friends do, he called them "Sheeple".

You were Deeply offended by that? And you are judging his character from that? All I have to say to that is, you should hope that you are never judged by those strict standards.

This thread, is actually a good example of "Sheeple". At the beginning all it took was one or two negative comments, then all the "Sheeple" began piling on, in other words they tend to follow what is fashionable.

I tend to follow my own instincts and intuition I am not following anybody and never call me a sheeple again

I agree when he gets past stroking his own ego his reviews can be informative i like his philosophy of use list but acting like he's better than me and other people is what makes me think he's a douche, a classic mean jock attitude

I bought a benchmade 275 because I liked the looks and the overbuilt toughness I loved it and showed it to my dad who also loves it and now wants to buy one himself and now according to your idol nutnfacy my father who worked his whole life some times working two jobs to provide for his family is a sheeple. well I say f**k that my father is his own man

And who ever said nutn was my idle? My same argument goes to any of the Y/Tubers that have been bashed here, John from the Art of Sharp, from everything I could tell (watched 3 videos) heck of a nice guy, yet he was bashed. People who are bashing, are making statements about peoples character, with very little information, and THAT is what is not right.

Can't stand nutnfancy. I do not have anything against minimalist carry. Most of the time I carry light weight durable knives and guns (Kershaw Scallion and Ruger LCP), but I can perfectly conceal a big ZT and a full size 1911 and I'm a skinny guy. Just get frustrated how his "philosophy of use" is so self centered on his personal preference. Though he is not a knife reviewer, Hickok45 can tell you what he prefers and then show you other options. I tend to lean more towards reviewers who show you how to adapt with what you have, i.e. "This knife is used for...but you can also..."

Well, in my experience, and I expect in the experience of several other youtube posters, once you get to a sizeable number of videos and viewers you'll eventually come in contact with haters and bashers. But, as I said before, it comes with the territory. Nobody forced me to take up that little hobby. I prepare and try to do them well with good information, yet I accept that there will be some pretty harsh feedbacks from time to time.

I would like to bring a few words in favour of nutn's here. The two of us couldn't be further apart in philosophy, focus and interests outside sharp things, yet I respect him for being quite literate in his explanations. He talks well, has a good vocabulary, prepares well. The last part is important for me. Yes, we're all humble hobby creators so don't expect professional quality (outside your work Stefan!), but still: few things are as boring to watch as an unprepared knife review video.

As an aside, personally I don't mind this thread. Even if I would be listed. It's always interesting to see what could be improved.
 
I not big into knife reviewers, but I do enjoy some of Gavkoos videos where he demonstrates and explains his designs and philosophies behind his blades. Although I can't stand his reviews more power to Nutnfancy for putting himself out like he does,
 
I have no doubt that I'm in the minority yet I find it a shame that threads like this and the content within may convince someone not to make a knife video that may have been very interesting. I haven't seen any new jdavis videos since this all started and I for one enjoyed them and the one he made on the CMP154 SMF helped me decide what my next purchase would be and after a couple months of using the knife everyday I'm thankful that I watched it.

If I find a reviewer that isn't my cup of tea then I simply move on...

It's a shame that we have the infighting here as we all share a common interest and it seems to me that we'd all be better served to focus on what we have in common rather than our differences. If you bring together any group there will always differences in opinion, differences in tastes but if we all agreed on everything this site would be extremely boring...we'd all be carrying the same knife. :eek:
