Depends on the cost of the knife...but in the price range I normally buy, yes. I would return it if it cost more than $50.

Doesn't look like it would be very effective as a traction device. Yeah... I'd probably do what WValtakis suggested. I like effective jimping on my blades and I don't think that's a good example you've got there.

Yeah, I think that would bug me even more than asymmetrical filework;). That sucks, is the maker willing to make it right? Should be easy for them to recut the jimping with a diamond file.

I'm seeing what looks like some pricey frame slabs so guessing this wasn't a cheap knife?
Custom?
Sometimes an artist will use some license with a worn look for effect that may have some bearing on appeal.

If everything else about the knife were stellar, It probably wouldn't bother me that much. Is this custom or factory? If custom, I might contact the maker and see if I could arrange to have the jimping completed. If factory, I'd just use it and not worry about it. It obviously bothers you, however, and I don't think you'd be out of line requesting a resolution, whether custom or factory.

This is a very expensive full dress knife. I am pretty frustrated with the whole experience

Based on the scales I was thinking that it wasn't cheap. I would not accept it like that and the maker should never have left it out of his shop in that condition. If you can't send it back, then at the minimum I would post up who the actual maker is so we know who to avoid in the future.

Ya custom , mokuti every thing. I don't know what to do? it they already replaced the blade once because it wasn' up to snuff so this would be round two. The detent path us pretty terrible when it approaches the ramp and the action is suffering so bad.
This is brand new...

This is actually what I was thinking. It may have been done intentionally. Obviously I don't know that, maybe check out done other pictures of the knife and see if they were done the same. Seeing as it's on the very last 2 it shouldn't affect the functionality(unless you have long thumbs).

In this case I know they should be uniform and all alike from previous examples.

That's some intricate work on that blade but the detent insert looks "soft" enough to wear a track and malform the hole.
Shame, that's a nice looking blade.

If this was your knife would you have they do it again for the third time? The handles are amazing but the blade is killing me being a prfectionist. This has never happened to me..

Reading the emotion in your posts, I can tell you're never going to be happy with this knife, especially at the price you likely paid, no matter what else transpires (and if they're annoyed with you now, they'll hate you before they make it right!). For what it's worth, you have my support in sending it back for a full refund. Tell them you're dissatisfied with the product, the workmanship, and you want your money back. Your job is to give them money. Their job is to provide a product that satisfies. You did yours; they didn't do theirs.

Well the jumping would suck even if they had done it right, so yes I would be unhappy.
Jimping should be fine like the edge of a file, this way it grips your thumb without requiring you to really dig in.
