The only modern I own is a Browning. It's a cool folder, but weighs a ton on my pocket and on a belt, so I tend to keep it in the knive drawer. My love is for European traditional folders, and I prefer slipjoints to friction folders. I've got a few frictions (Resolza, Capucin, and Arbus) and they can open in the pocket if not careful. Great knives, I use them around the house or for food prep. I've got gentlemen's pocket knives such as the Laguiole, Theirs Chambriard, and Opinel. These I carry and use just for food only, sausage, veggies, fruits and bread etc... My workman's knives are my Douk-Douk, Black Cat K55K and South African Okapi. The European designs go back a hundred years and more, such great lines and character to these knives. Many have polished horn scales, which I'm a sucker for, as all of my switchblades are horn scales too. So, all I ever carry are traditionals.
