Would you be suspicious ?

I have learn to wait and trust other people here specialy when they have 10 + feed back . I once bought a knife at the exchange it took three weeks to get . If I got 4 email was a lot I don't think people will like to get banned from he forum they love over $150 knife .

I had this exact thing happen to me!
I shipped my end on the agreed upon day and the other guy didn't.
He offered an apology but no explanation, which is fine because I don't particularly care for excuses anyways.
I decided to trust the guy's feedback and darn it if he didn't come thru. I actually received my knife before him, even though I shipped 2 days sooner.

I recently had a trade with Corey. I'd say he's true to his word. If he says he'll ship in 2 days, just be patient. He even has a pic of it in the package...

FP tourist,

I hear you , this was not my first rodeo. I have done the same , many times. There was too much here, selling the knife I was selling, no communications, not explanation...

Again, I asked the forum if anyone would feel the same? The other gentleman personalized the issue.

Just saying

I might have been a little concerned myself. I think you didn't do anything wrong by asking here while trying to leave names out of it.

Definitely not trying to screw anyone over.

...Are you really going to ship that knife in an envelope??? Man, it barely fits! USPS Priority Mail boxes are free, and a much better choice. Definitely get that insurance...

Jaxx,

The knife was supposed to be shipped USPS priority insured that is what we agreed to..... again, the envelope above is not consistent with what was agreed to......

I wish we could use disagreements like this as learning experiences, instead of expressions of enmity. We have no reason to think either of these gentlemen set out to scam anyone, but the result will be bad feelings between them, and among bystanders "choosing sides".

Can't we find a way to hit "reset" and go back to completing a good deal, without bitterness, without recriminations?

I would be worried if I shipped a knife, and the other member wasn't responding to me but was on the forums . Pwerfel IMO you did the right thing, you came in asked a general question and left names out of it, The other party decided to let it be known who he was, not you, I can say this I have dealt with pwerfel on a few occasions and he is a stand up guy , If he tells you he is going to do something he does it, nothing wrong with expecting the same thing in return. To the other party things happen and that is understandable you say a death in the family , well I'm sorry for your loss, but communication is key in any transaction. People start to get really nervous once they've shipped an item and they can't reach the other party, Especially if they see that you have been online. I hope all this gets resolved and everone is happy in the end.

He can still send that as USPS Priority...it's just that shipping knives in envelopes ain't exactly the best way to go about it in my opinion.

The only person that does or used to, that I have complete confidence in is Mr. RJ Martin, who packs the knife carefully in one padded FedEx envelope, then packs that envelope in another one...and ships FedEx Next Day Air insured.

Folks,

I have sent him an email and am hoping my knife is coming back and he will do as he says and refund postage involved... If it happens or not, I will let you know

Thanks
P

If I do ship in these padded envelope, I'll cut two pieces of cardboard and Sandwhich top/bottom. Works really well with USPS handler. NEVER use these padded envelope with UPS brown.

All I can say is I'd never want to deal with someone who creates a GBU thread when something is one day late.

Agreed. If someone has an unexpected situation come up that will delay shipping by a day or two then it doesn't make sense to get paranoid and obsessive about it. It isn't as if this fella didn't respond for weeks, this was within 24 hours! There is no need for so much drama over such a minor issue that was already explained privately in an email in my opinion.

I think thread started out as a question...way I read it, no harm was meant. It quickly got spun into feeling like a calling out, and I could see how one might see it this way. id say as long as it all gets worked out ..write it off as an unintentional communication breakdown.

How would you feel about the situation if the person involved in your transaction did not do as he agreed to do in the first place and then refused to communicate with you?

Also, a padded envelope is a cheapskate way to ship and poor practice where the box for an item may be collectible or add value to the piece.

Honestly, I wouldn't get my knickers in a knot in less than 24 hours and barrage someone with messages or immediately think the worst of a situation and the other person. In fact, I have had similar happen in the past with both sellers and with makers and didn't get worked up about it. People get busy; stuff happens. As long as the shipper gets back to me in a reasonable time (eg. within a few business days) then it's not a major issue so long as they make things right.

The padded envelope is a cheap way to ship though, we can definitely agree there. Boxes and packing material are readily available so there is no reason to be skimpy on either.

My take on this type of scenario is a bit different.
When a seller does not ship as agreed to (or otherwise neglects his given word), Explanation should be immediately forthcoming without prompting by the buyer. The buyer should in no way have to seek out why the seller did not do as he agreed to upon the purchase of the item. After all the seller has already been promptly paid and should act in due diligence to promptly ship or promptly communicate.
In all actuality, the buyer should be notified before any action is taken that controverts the agreed upon deal, as a simple common courtesy.
Pwerfel was completely justified in his questioning of this transaction.

Torm etal,

While I am relatively new here, let's be clear, I have done many, many trades for hi end watches over the past 10 years and never an issue...someone asks a question, you answer, it is not hard (Search me on timezone.com, if you like)

Every week it seems, that Esav or Rycen or one of the other mods posts a missive that these bad deals are mostly due to bad communications..... and a whole host of us of us agree and wring our hands. Yet some of us still defend poor communications, until it happens to us..;-)

Please read my post.. did not "barrage" anyone... Asked a question.my bad......The seller was on all day and night yet could not hold up his end or communicate? What about selling my knife before he got it? I see my knife sold and him delaying sending his for 2 days without explanation? (yeah I am sure you would deal with that without a second thought) The other guy NEVER addressed selling a knife he did not own, still hasn't. Bad form, IMHO.

I try to tell my kids and students that you do not have to be perfect, you just need to do what you say you are gonna do. That is exactly what I did and was under the impression that another person would do the same or at least give me the courtesy of explanation. silly me..

If that makes me a bad guy please put me on your list of who not to deal with.....

Have a nice night
