I would EDC a Fixed Blade but every time I have any cash to get a decent one, Someone posts up a balisong I want and I end up buying that instead. Definitely will be getting a FB to EDC before the end of the year though.

We can carry a fixed blade where I live, but only if it's openly carried. Even then there is an increased likelihood of unwanted attention, so I'm effectively prohibited from doing so. As a result I carry folders.

I would if it was legal to carry concealed in CA, but it isn't. I really prefer not to have to carry it openly. This is for regular EDC. For outdoor activity, I wouldn't mind carrying a fixed blade openly, but that doesn't occur very often for me.

I have carried my Razel from time to time but I'm always nervous
about doing it. The way the law reads I could be committing a felony
just by putting on a jacket that conceals the knife.

Yep this one.

What are those?

I EDC 4 fixed blades. All 4 are small, comfortable, and most importantly, concealable.

RAT-3 in D2 - the sheath and short handle make it disappear. Best sheath I have, rides high.

Buck Kaala with scales installed by our own Phillip Dobson...small Sharpshooter sheath from a BRKT Snowy River. Rides well.

BRKT Gunny - it works.

Custom "Mini Hissatsu" by Justin Gingrich. Super small kydex rig for horizontal carry.

I learned the same lesson about fixed blades that I did with handguns. Without a good sheath, the knife isn't going to be carried. The sheath is now 50% of my purchasing decision on a fixed blade, and I rarely buy a knife without a sheath anymore.

My answer is I would if I could. I like fixed blades but don't see much purpose in a short under say 3.5". Where I live the limit is 4" and to me this is folder territory, if I could carry say a 5-6" fixed it would be great.

Small fixed blades just don't do it for me.

i occasionally carry a bud nealy 5" M2 pesh kebz or an amoeba or a polkawski companion but not often, and only in the cooler months as i only carry them when i wear a coat or jacket, though its legal to carry non concealed or concealed up to 5.5" in TX imho non concealed just looks too "cowboy" to me and i just wont do that, and i usually tuck my shirt in so a jackets a must, i dont worry about locks on my folders i edc (ie emerson custom CQC13 or a spyderco Ti ATR, occasionally a EKI CQC12) and a folder is a lot easier to live with day to day so my fixed blades rarely get any carry time and my 3 SD fixed blades carry as well or better than anything i have seen or tried, now if all i had was a knife, maybe a different story.
