would you ever stab someone?

I always advise....that if you don't have the tools (weapons) to defend yourself.....try running away.

Seemed to have worked for you......... :)

I've been stabbed twice, chopped once, and slashed numerous times.

Luckily not by anyone else yet.

Ok. Thanks. It all makes sense now. :)

Actually I'm still confused. :(

a gold member was trying to sell a knife and a moderator made a post warning the seller not to sell to the buyer cuz the buyer might be/was a troll. I can only assume the sale went through and the buyer has not been banned so far as I know (although the issue of whether he/she is/was a troll could still be open). Anyway did the moderator do wrong? If not, why not? Is there an absolute prohibition against interfering with a member's (gold? registered?) sale? Or a member's attempt to purchase? Or are there instances when its ok? If so when? Thanks for the help.

Is this a fair and true depiction of the plight of these folks??

The 'documentary' you referred to may have been the film Rabbit Proof Fence - which was based on a true story in any case. The last of those three girls died recently in her 80s. It was the policy of the Australian government up until the 50's that the Australian aborigines were a hopelessly primitive relic of prehistoric times and were dying out. It was decided to help as many of them as possible to assimilate into white society by taking black children from their parents and educating them in special schools. These people are now referred to as 'the stolen generation' and many of them are now doing what they can to reconnect with their roots.

It was common to hunt and shoot aborigines in Australia right up to the early 1960's in some cases. All of the Tasmanian Aborigines, a distinct racial and language group where wiped out, as where large numbers of mainland groups. The Binjarup tribe, traditional owners of the land where I live, where wiped out at the turn of the century (they never taught us about the Pinjarra massacre in schools did they?). All of the Nyoongar people who live here now come from elsewhere. Although it is fair to say that the number who died from being introduced to diseases they had no immunity for, as well as foods they had no metabolism for - like flour, sugar and alcohol, have killed more aborigines than any rifle.

I grew up with the Martup people near Katanning, part of the Nyoongar nation. In Western Australia we have several distinct aboriginal cultures, the Nyoongar's down south, Wongi in the east, Yamatdji further north and many, many more groups north of there. The Nyoongar people are quite a fierce, warrior nation – unlike the stereotype of the peaceful desert aborigines that most people identify with. They are large and muscular and waged war on each other constantly. Most of the Australian aborigines who play professional Australian Rules Football are from Nyoongar heritage (The Krakouers, The Kickets, Nicki Winmar, Byron Picket, half the fremantle dockers etc). I was lucky enough to play many games with Nicki Winmar – he is a true champion and the moment in the game against Collingwood, after being constantly abused racially by the Collingwood fans, when he lifted his shirt to show them his black skin, is seen as one of the defining statements against racism in Australian Sporting history.

Like many colonised indigenous people they Aboriginal cultures have been decimated by Alcohol and abuse. They take up a disproportionate number of jail cells. Many people say it is because of their failure to assimilate into white society. I believe it is the culture shock of being suddenly disconnected with their land and traditions – a shock that they are now only just recovering from.

I am pleased to see many of the black fellas I grew up with now proudly keeping their traditions alive. In the far North, places like Kunnunura and Wyndam, the locals still retain a strong connection to their land. I have travelled the world and met many spiritually grounded people, like the Tibetans and Nepalese – but I have never come across people like the Northern Aborigines. When I go bush with them they make me feel inferior in every way. Sure they get drunk, fight and fall down in public from time to time – but so do the white fella’s, they just do it behind closed doors.

Make no mistake, the black fellas have got the blueprint for this land works. We are going to need them to show us one day……

Indian Reservation
Words and Music by John D. Loudermilk
performed by Paul Revere and the Raiders

They took the whole Cherokee nation
Put us on this reservation
Took away our ways of life
The tomahawk and the bow and knife
Took away our native tongue
And taught their English to our young
And all the beads we made by hand
Are nowadays made in Japan

Cherokee people, Cherokee tribe
So proud to live, so proud to die

They took the whole Indian nation
Locked us on this reservation
Though I wear a shirt and tie
I’m still part redman deep inside

Cherokee people, Cherokee tribe
So proud to live, so proud to die

But maybe someday when they learn
Cherokee nation will return, will return, will return, will return,
will return

You got the wrong thread in mind. The thread in question is regarding Ren and Goldcutter not timdennis and motorcycle_loop.

Thanks Ming65,

That is it! I thank you very kindly for all your comment and educational verification. I feel like I got a real snapshot of they're plight from a virtual witness no less... I must agree with you whole heartedly about they're spirit and value as a culture... I am in your debt!

Abundant Blessings,

Anthony

Carry a gun and you probably wont have the same problem as long as you have time to pull it out.

In honor of a fairly common question, I shall give an uncommon reply...

I would stab a person, yes I would!
I would stab a person, I'd stab 'em good!
I would stab thier neck thier face and heart
I would slash them too, into little parts!
I would hit them, punch them, and gouge eyes too,
In defense of my hide, there's not much I wouldn't do!
I would stab and stab until they cease and desist
And then I'd stab no more even if I were pissed.
For it would never be and act of lunacy or malice, in regards to taking life I could never be so callous!
For my friends you see, I am the father in a family of three. I could never kill in the spirit of fun, but my son needs his father, just as I need my son. and in the world there is no end to how far I'd go with my loved ones to defend.

So go ahead and laugh yer ass off, and wipe yer nose, this questions often been answered, but never in prose! I am quite proud to be the first, even if my poetry is among the worst! :D

mhpoole, welcome to Bladeforums!

Carry a gun and you may not have to worry about providing your own room and board for a few years, courtesy of your local legal system. Some jurisdictions make it difficult to carry concealed, and even if you can, they prefer you not blow away everyone who startles you. :D

My first thought would be never bring a knife to a gun fight :D

Now in reality if I were to use a knife in self defense my life would need to be in a life of danger other than a few words passed back and fourth, especially over a cigarette. If he/she had a knife in their hand demanding money I would most likely give him the money, knowing that by the time I have reached my knife I would most likely be stabbed and cut up before I could get my knife out to defend myself. The bottom line is that any scenario that you say you can defend yourself with a knife is only a mental scenario and not an actual event. I go through the same scenario with my firearms, but again this is only preparedness, in the event of the actual situation no one really knows what they would do, even if they have defended themselves in prior circumstances of the same nature.

There are tactical martial arts that can stop knife attacks, James Williams the owner of Bugei, and the designer of the hissatsu (tactical tanto) has videos on www.ancientedge.com of him perfectly stopping knife attacks (mind you he has years of martial training - Nami Ryu Iaido, Systema, etc). I think his mentioned that he trains elite forces like counter terrorists etc.

just go on ancient edge, click on tanto's and where the hissatsu is theres two videos for download.
