WSS: Bushcraft Knife Challenge Gallery.

Good stuff, guys. No worries on the time it took, I know it was a huge undertaking. Thanks for doing it.

Great Video, I seriously can't believe the amount of time and work you guys put into this.

I am NOT surprised you had to sharpen up my knife lol I'm embarrassed to say that is one of my weakest points right now. I got so damn frustrated with trying to get it sharp I had to just stop and ship it off the way it was or I was going to go crazy trying!

Thanks for the vid Tony, I appreciate the time you took to do this.

Great job all! Realy enjoying the evals. I have a FiddleBack Ladyfinger so can't say I'm surprised about the how well the Bush Finger did!

Thanks again as well. I have trouble with my sharpening too. It's what I'm working on hardest right now. and GOOD LORD you have a big hand man! :p :D

You know what they say about guys with big hands, eh?.......... that's right..... "big gloves".

Also really like the handle on the X39 but I'd want the ricasso smaller on it.

Thanks for the compliment, if I were to do it over again the ricasso is something I would definitely change. When I originally designed the knife it was my intent to inlet the handle so that part of what you now see as a ricasso would have been covered. I made the blade first, then started work on the handle and decided that would have left the wood on the edge and spine sides of the handle thinner than I felt comfortable with. At that point the deadline was drawing near so I ran with what I had.

I also like the hiding of the tang like that. Probably ideal for winter:thumbup:

You said the handle was maple?? Looks almost like Arctic Birch. Yours really captures the scandi look!

I hadn't even looked at this thread because I figured I couldn't see the pics.

I also wanted to comment on the traction grooves on NWA's knife. Most makers just don't want to put that much work into doing that part and half the time it's in the wrong place. There is enough grooves to fit probably any thumb length on NWA's and the artistry in doing it is really great!

Wildertools knives are normally posted on a hosting site I can't see so I've never really got to see much of his stuff.

I always liked the look of the blades, but the wrapped handles like that always looked TOO THIN so I'd never even considered getting any of his stuff.

I'm really glad this picture

Was posted because it totally changes my perception of his blades. Way to go there RM in making a wrapped handle that is also COUNTOURED!! That's awesome:thumbup::thumbup:

So maybe I missed it in the discussion?

But is the notch so you can take your pot off the fire?

If so, very cool idea!

:eek:Oh no, I'm really dissapointed with my sheath! To my knowledge, that has never happened before to any of my sheaths. I'm not sure what I did wrong. All I know is that I was in a rush to send this knife in time for the Nov. 20 deadline. I'm thinking I didn't sew tightly enough because it looks like it went through between the welt and the side. Anyway, stuff happens and I'll do better next time. Are the sheaths being judged?:o

Yep, definitely Maple. I got lucky when I found it in a box of scraps a woodworker friend gave me for kindling some years back. I've been sitting on it waiting for the right project to use it on.

LOL, I never had that happen with one your knife sheaths before Ray, I didn't even notice it till I did the video. Yes it is coming out between the welt and the side.

We did judge the sheaths, but it was only worth 5 points. If it makes you feel better, your sheath was still better then Gene's :D

By the way, thanks for the comments on the video. I have not watched the whole video yet, 26 minutes is way too long for me to listen to anyone, specially myself...

Tony you just wasted almost half an hour of my life.

Then again, I've got nothing but time these days. It was pretty entertaining to listen to your funny accent for a while. Very nice bunch of knives.
