Id love to find a source for burlap and rag micarta. Preferably in 1/8 flats or similar but would be happy to buy it in blocks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried contacting him a few times. I have pm'd him here and sent emails to his address. Unless he has a new one he is either just not responding or he has a new email address. Don't know. But I would love to get my hands on some nice burlap.

I've been contacted a few times now about making burlap laminates for some of you which I'm not interested in doing because I believe burlap laminates is FOD's creation, that's just not cool to make what he does for others so please do not ask me, I will just point you in FOD's direction.

I understand your position. Do you know FOD? Can he post up a hello in Shoptalk?
If he's not around, who besides Butch makes it?
I've got some of Butch's Redhot Smash and it's awesome

i love the smash stuff, but im really after a smooth burlap looking texture. i want it to look like a peice of stretched out cloth. id love to buy it from fod but he seems to be mia.......

Im honestly not trying to derail Peters thread, just trying to add to it. Ive been looking for burlap micarta too..Plenty of us have without luck..

FOD is Shadetree and he is long gone. It used to be his thing but he doesn't do it any more.

sweet, if you can do it and you obviously have buyers (myself included) then I say go for it. The last I heard is that Mark (FOD/Shadetree) retired somewhere and gave up the handle business.

I realize that this may not be the appropriate place on the forum, but I´d be interested too if someone was willing and able to make a good burlap laminate.

Is this what you're talking about? I make my own and may have some extra, let me try and remember where I put it.

i do not want to take business away from anyone else, and i am certainly not a knifemaker. so, please forgive me if i am speaking out of turn here. but if the question is simply who has done it before, then yes....i have done it a few times.

a couple of examples....

it's a relatively easy process, but a bit messy. please feel free to ping me with any questions you might have.

TPVT,

That's pretty good-looking! (reminds me of a giant peanut!)

Did you make it in vacuum, or with just a press?

edit: looks like you added a few more pics as I was writing. So you used a pan & press shaped the sheets?
