Wy the Bk17 is not that popular as the well known bk16

Here's a Japanese fellow from YouTube that downed a stag, and then skinned it with a 17. Though it dulled quicker than his a2 and 3v barkies, he raves (and then demonstrates) about how easy it is/was to get to paper whittling sharp with literally seconds of stropping. A ringing endorsement from a guy who's into $200-$350 semi-custom blades.
The 17 isn't a sucky knife, no matter how you look at it.

Oh yeah ... Virtuvoice ... Hello Knife People. Watched a lot of his vids. He's a poor shot but he sure can skin. ;)

IIRC, he carries a BK12 for bear-defense during the off-season when no firearms are allowed and the legal limit is 6" for knives.

I love to watch this guy videos, very impressive how sharp he use to have pretty much all his knives and the method he uses, i been watching almost all his videos

I started a similar thread a while back and what I picked up from it was mostly ffg vs saber. Many chimed in with the idea to clip a 16 for a better "17".
I moved on...decided to put my dollars elsewhere for the time being...meanwhile keeping an eye out for a discounted/used 16 or 17.

Funny thing is, I've seen many 16's for sale used, but not a single 17 with one exception on flea bay but somehow missed it. Makes me wonder if ppl just don't want to sell them even if they get little use because its such a cool, classic style Blade.

I noticed too, the big difference (talking about money) between the 16 and 17 (first production run) even if the 16 is a used blade people is willing to put more money into these, that's something I can't understand

I've got a pretty well used 17 that I love. It usually gets fish duty but I also use it a good bit in the kitchen as well. It will be with me hunting later on tonight. I will try and post up a pic when I have it on me.

That would be great, Sir !!!!

Nice pic, Jerry. The 17 is such a good looking knife!

I think the 17 is a better knife then one might think . I know the 15 , for me anyway sure turned out that way .

I wish my wife love my knives as I do, but she is a fan of big slicers, that's the reason I will get me a bk15

She doesn't "love" them, but she appreciates them. She has a 5, and uses it all the time in the kitchen. She doesn't want a 15 though.

Feeling just a little bit disappointed since they stop producing the rolled stamped blades, for me was a very cool looking knife due to that fact ,but still my favorite (I own a couple first production run 17)

Got the 15 and the 16 - really like them both. Now, you enabling bunch you, I'm shopping for a 17. :D:cool::eek:

Hah, Ive been peekin at them for a good while now...would love to find a stamped one.

If you snag a 17 ya better snap a pic of it stuck in one of those big sausage ham roll thingies!
Mmmm...I'm hungry!
Every time I've had one on my watch list or cart, something I can't pass up end up rearing its ugly head lol. Eventually gonna have to just pull the trigger.
