Xm-24 on the way!!!

I think all the G2 XM-24 have the new blade stop. There were 10 G1's.

No, Gen 2 XM-24 has the traditional blade stop unlike the Gen 4 XM-18 3.5" which has the new blade stop location.

Mike is right, this is covered frequently, it isn't that hard to figure out.

  • Gen 1 and Gen 2 of XM-18 in 3"
  • Gen 1 through Gen 4 of XM in 3.5"
  • Gen 1 and Gen 2 of XM-24 (as noted, there were only ten of the Gen 1 XM-24 in all Ti with the Maltese Cross).

Nice Summary Rich-

•Gen 1 and Gen 2 of XM-18 in 3"
•Gen 1 through Gen 4 of XM in 3.5"
•Gen 1 and Gen 2 of XM-24 (as noted, there were only ten of the Gen 1 XM-24 in all Ti with the Maltese Cross).

Also from prior threads:

To add to that, for the XM-24:
Gen1 - Handle and lockside are titanium. Hand ground blades (variety of finishes). I may be mistaken, but the titanium scale had an iron cross machined into it. There were only ten (10) of these.
Gen2 - Blades can be either hand ground or production. The "HINDERER" logo is on the Ti handle lockside like the Gen 3 XM-18 (and they are otherwise consistent with the Gen 3 XM-18).

3.5" while we're at it:
Gen1 - handle is G10 on one side and Ti on the lockside. Hand ground and "R. HINDERER" engraving on the blade. Old school barrel thumbstuds. Addition courtesy of Mike - Gen 1 XM-18s had a half liner milled into the G10 scale.
Gen2 - The G10 handle is reinforce with a Ti liners. Hand ground and "R. HINDERER" engraving on the blade. Lockbar Stabilizer disk has the "HINDERER" engraving.
Gen3 - Blades are either hand ground or CNC'd but NO more "R. HINDERER" engraving. The "HINDERER" logo is now on the Ti handle lockside.
Gen4 - Same as Gen3 except the stop pin is mounted differently.

It may have the position of the G3 3.5 but it goes all the way through like the G4 instead of just going part way into the gap.

I'll make a new thread, something I have meant to do for a while and I'll add to it but start with the basics first.

I thought about doing something like this a bit too. But decided it would benefit folks listing things for sale more than owners trying to determine what they own. All the information is already out there for those willing to do a little work to discover it.

It will benefit all, and hopefully those you are concerned about will reference it and get it right and won't start another thread about it or another buyer who is trying to figure it out.

Just ordered an xm-24, and its on the way right now!
Delivery in 36 hours trough fedex!
My very first hinderer, had the choice between digicam/beadblast ti or orange/tumbled ti
Altough, i prefer the first one, i ordered the 2nd one since I plan on using it and it'll look nice for longer :D

We'll hear from you......Monday? :)

Q- How do you get a group of people that know a lot about a topic to divulge in accurate detail some very useful information?
A- Tell them they are mistaken. If the information provided is not sufficient, simply suggest the information is innacurate. Truth will be revealed in detail.

Back on topic- Congratulations on the 24, it a large and awesomely capable tool.

Yup, pics coming up in approx 25 hours from now :D
One question about the xm-24, i saw a vid on yt saying the gen 4 xm had a stiffer ball detent than the gen 3, thats why i tought there were 4 gens. Eitherway, how is the detent on xm-24's ?

Edit: i got it from neptuneknives

I look forward to your photos. I'm a fan of images in threads. They tell a story that words often cannot.

YouTube and videos in general can be misinforming. They often may contain or be full of opinion, misunderstanding or simply taken out of context. For example: if the conversation is about the XM 18 3.5". It does have 4 Generations and the Gen 4 does have a stop pin in a different location than other Generations of the 3.5". Here's the catch. That conversation is only about the 3.5" model. Each model (size) has a different story. Even reputable dealers get the Generation thing wrong...some mistakenly listed the most recent 3" as a "Gen 3".

Detent....it's fine on my 24s. No unwanted or unintended anything. I have more than 1 24, some newer than others and one I EDC since Blade 2011...you can adjust the "detent"...(blade retention when closed) by adjusting the pivot. Keep it clean and lubricated and properly adjusted and all should be fine.

Really disappointed!
Just checked the tracking on fedex and it said the following:
Shipment exception: unaccepazble or incompatible hazardous materials
It currently still is at the california fedex facility. Idk what it means, but i guess it'll be delayed :(

What?

That warrants a phone call or two...for some explanation from FedEx and if necessary some help from the seller.

I wonder if it was on a truck that had an accident or something, it happens. Hope you get it worked out. But like I said, I'd be on the phone.

That is odd indeed, only time I've ever heard of that happening is a Customs issue going into or leaving a Knife-unfriendly environ, as N2K intimated phone calls are in order. Perhaps you will see an update of status shortly, have seen that happen.
As for your inbound 24, reading about a new toy in anticipation of its arrival is a mixed bag. It is fun and helps pass the time but, as with anything you will read the gambit of information and mis-information.
If you have questions once it arrives - ask us.
In the meantime, worry not about fairy dust issues like detent strength and pivot adjustments that nay sayers spew on YouTube and the like in some feable attempt to discredit that which is great possibly elevating their current position to imagined heights.
Some things in life are universal. Haters do what haters do.
Good luck with the "arrow" people, hope the status is just a mis-type by Emma Lou FatFinger and her manicure.
You will Love your 24!

Yes, i'd like to call, however, i live in europe, and fedex customer service is closed on sundays...
So i already sent an email, i hope they'll get back to me tommorow morning, otherwise i will call them!
As for the 24 itself, i dont worry about that kinda things, i actually enjoy the technical side of it :p
Thats what i love most about my sebbie, taking it appart and cleaning it :p

The point of origin and destination explains a lot. Hopefully ALL will work out for the best.
IF you are one who enjoys "dickering" (translation: Love which springs forth from interaction) then you are in for a real treat with your new found friend yet to arrive.
Enjoy and keep us posted.
