I just sold my Nuclear SHSH for a loss, Claehill & HRK, can testify. did it cause had others coming and truly casue Claehill took care of me previously
I hafta jump up for KnifeHunter here. I abhor myself for even WANTING a thousand-dollar knife, but I hafta thank T for selling me a beautiful knife at a loss just to free up some funds. Yes it was expensive, but he was willing to explain why it was so expensive, and I understood it, and did the "I'll Take It" dance. Thanks, T.
UJ...it sucks that your thread got stepped on (even though it's nice to see the way Foo carried it). Glad to know you won't throw a shadow over it.
Maybe we all got carried away here. Truth is, some of us are probably just trying to be altruistic when in reality we're all succeptible to raising prices when we can. Regardless...as Adrienne Rich has said, as long as no one names the stink, it'll keep on stinking.
What I've noticed here is that generally, if you're a part of the community and you're making an effort to build and cultivate relationships, there should be no reason that you miss out on a NEW knife you want. Once you've made a couple friends here, you will find someone to proxy for you. And if you need a proxy, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to ask for one. As long as the good people here are willing to do that, then there really shouldn't be a problem. And by the same token...If you can proxy for someone, do it. If someone shouts out that they need one, and you'll be fighting the F5 button, by all means...grab an extra. You won't even need to pay for it if you tell Amy-O it's for someone else. She's so great, she'll just go directly to the person you proxied for. Just another couple things that make this place so damned dope.
As for the older blades: if you want an SFNO, Mr. Mofo, FSH, etc... then swallow the price because that's what happens when a product isn't being made anymore. It ain't just knives. BUT...don't let yourself down by paying more for less than what it takes to satisfy you. Ask your questions and wait for your answers, then make an educated purchase
J
Oh...and if you DO work to try and build friendships here, you WILL run into a hog or two that track prices from the exchange on spreadsheets. I know I have, and his information was invaluable. You know who you are.
