These are all CV except for the RR. I have a lot of knives that are better looking. But, I have to carry one of these at least 7 days a week.

Morablades,

I'm new to this knife obsession, so I don't recognize all of the patterns yet. What is the first knife, with the wharncliffe blade, called?

Thanks mgh

It's called a Wharncliffe Copperlock by Case. I was lucky to find this one after a year and a half of hunting. It's a very nice knife and works well for delicate tasks. The regular Copperlock has a clip blade instead of a wharncliffe.

I thought it looked like a Copperlock (I've got one of those) but I didn't know they came with the Wharncliffe. After I posted the first message I started looking for it on the web, but no luck. It's about perfect for me: yellow, wharncliffe blade, lock and full sized. I hope I don't have to look for a year and a half.

I found this at a mom and pop hardware store last month along with the large yellow sod buster and large stockman all in CV and at 15% off. Just got lucky I guess.

I'm toting a Schrade yellow handle (bone, I think) that I found for ten bucks at a junk bin at a gun show. Super sharp, lightweight, don't have to worry about it.

I think I will carry my Case yeller Pen knife today.

I had no desire for a yellow handled knife, until I saw those Boker Cinch folders. Haven't gotten one of those yet, but I have become more open to the thought of owning a yeller knife ;).

That black-handled Sodbuster looks like it's been through some hard times. Have you been treating it well?

Hard times? That's just a little patina! Hard times for a knife as capable as a Case Sodbuster means time spent just sitting on a shelf or in a sock drawer. These knives like to work as sure and a faithful setter wants to hunt!

Oh, I know it's a patina, but I'm mostly talking about the edge. Seems like it was used sometime back and left to sit around. That ribbon of steel doesn't look too fresh. I love the look of a well-patina'ed blade with a mirror-finished edge, ready for some hard use.

One of my EDC's is a large carbon steel Schlieper stockman, just like in Lambertiana's post. I think I remember reading that Schlieper uses 1075 for their carbon steel blades, can anyone confirm that? Thanks.

For some reason I've never found the "yeller" Cases all that attractive. Maybe I'll just buy one and see if it grows on me :)
