"Yeller" Handles

Reviving an older picture thread to add a couple of my yeller CV pen alongside my son's yeller CV peanut.

His blades had started to show some early signs of rust from being in his pocket and in use everyday at work in an unconditioned warehouse, so he asked me to help him give it a little protection. After light cleaning of the blades, mineral oil rub, slicing some apples, and another mineral oil treatment, it is looking much better. Ready to get back to work tomorrow.

The bright afternoon sun sort of washes out the yeller scales, but you all know what they should look like.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say this. His is as sharp as mine. I have the bloody thumb to prove it!

Reviving this one once again, to show my current lineup of yeller handles. The return of my Colonial barlow, rescaled in smooth marigold bone, takes the place of the Case slimline trapper I recently sold.

Top to bottom:
Colonial barlow in smooth marigold bone
A. W. Wadsworth & Son sleeveboard pen in french ivory
Case 32087 pen in yellow composite
Camillus 22 pony jack in maize pyroxlin
Schrade Walden 708Y serpentine jack in yellow celluloid

Here I am once again reviving this thread. Since my last picture in July I have acquired a GEC Northfield 66 jack in rotten banana bone. Also I sent my Schrade Walden 708Y away to have the celluloid handles replaced in order to better preserve the knife.

Beautiful pics of beautiful knives Doug. You are the man with the yeller-handled knives!

Here's a couple I've been remiss in not adding...you can guess the maker...;) :p

Those are both beautiful, Elliott!

Thanks, Doug. There's something about all these yellow knives...done properly they have a nice feeling of warmth which is added to both the utility and the sense of tradition.

Yellow handle knives just have a warmth about them that no other color has. I like blue, red black handles also. There just is something extra about yellow that draws me to them. I like the yellow on the German Eye knives probably best, but they all are beautiful. Just bought some old slabs of yellow delrin that is going to get some new life to some old knives.

I gave this to my Dad in the early 80's
Keep it tucked away for the memories

Thank You. The hard part of finding a Frontier Yeller is that they were only made in 1976. That realy limits the amount out there.
