yerscattergun aka James Barela is a scammer!

It was a nice try, but you picked the wrong guy! Here is the thread I purchased the knife from: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1184207-Hinderer-XM24-FS

Basically here is what happened: I bought and paid for the XM-24 on 5-23-14 and he said he would ship the next day. After that, he disappeared and never gave me a tracking number or anything. I never thought anything of it and finally received a package from Fedex in my door on 5-30-14. It was from Jim Thompson... and I opened up the package to find nothing in it except a small piece of bubble envelope folded up. I really had no clue these were related until "yerscattergun" shot me a pm today with a Fedex tracking number, the same tracking number as the package I received on 5-30.

Interesting, because first of all his name is not Jim Thompson!

2nd, there was no knife in the package!

3rd, there was never a knife in the package at all!!! How do I know this... because the Fedex package weight printed on the label was only 0.1 lbs. He never shipped the knife at all and also had put a cut in the envelope and taped over it to make it look like it was tampered with. Problem is the package didn't even weigh close to enough to ever have a xm-24 in it, which probably weighs around 7 to 8 oz. without any packing. Here is the Fedex tracking number so you can see the package weight for yourself: 448211910034252

This is a warning for everyone out there as I have already opened a paypal claim to get my money back.

Sorry to hear.....Can you shoot pictures of the printing lablel so others can verify? It would just make your case 'stronger' if we saw the printing label.

Best of luck with the paypal claim.

Fords stuff has 83 positive feed backs, and 0 negative feed backs...
I don't need a picture of the shipping label to trust him.

For future reference, place threads in the correct section help. If unsure, read the headers on the forum, they provide adequate information, or you can ask a mod. Moved from the Hall of Shame to the correct section.

ETA, I sent him a couple messages (Vm/pm) with links to this thread.

Ok my bad, I wasn't sure where to put it. Thanks for your help!

It's bad enough having to wait 7 days. To find an empty package would piss me right off.

-Have you tried contacting him?
-His last post was the day of your purchase.
-He was online today at 4:28pm

He's been a member since 08, lots of posts, and 19 positive feedbacks, no negatives....

Strange.

As mentioned by JR88fan, the other member has postive feedback as well. And over the time iv been on here, iv learned that you cant always trust feedback.. (ie. lui kang)

Fordsnstuff has posted pics though , so we are all good to go :)

Amen to that Nader.

This just screws up all the hard work I've been doing to profile the typical scammer...!

(not trying to make a joke at all)

It's just odd, but 'odd' means zero...

I would have to agree, it is truley sad! Too me, it isn't just about the money but man up and have some integrity! You would think you could trust a member with 19 positive feedbacks ect... it just goes to show never let your guard down and look out for yourself! That said, I have done well over 100 transactions here on blade forums and this is the first major issue I have ever had. We truely do have a great community of knife lovers here :)

Very well said.

I hope this works out for you, he is a very involved member on this site, as you are, so there is no reason for him not to fix this.

This is a bit off topic, but I'm struck by the fact that the seller used a padded envelope to send a Hinderer. I know many have used padded envelopes without problems, and they're very quick and easy to pack, but I've had a few close calls (torn packages) when knives have been shipped to me that way. Boxes every time for me. Mike

I had a member send me a Swamprat Rattlehawk in a padded envelope. It had punctured the envelope in every direction. When the mail lady handed me the package, the sharpened beard was sticking all the way out. Luckily it did not severely injure her hand.

edited. I live 5 miles from the address and there does not appear to be any residence there. No apartments or homes.

That being said, as another forum member mentioned, it could have been from an office, but there doesn't appear vial google maps to be anything at that address either.

It's amazing how everyone piles on to a long time member
with flawless feedback when they know just one side of the story!

Here's what I sent the mods:

I don't understand why the package weight was listed so light.
The only thing I can think is someone at the package store
pulled it out of the package. My problem is...he immediately
jumped to conclusions and assumed the worst without giving
me a chance to even find out what happened, much less work
with him to fix it. And now he is ruining my good rep and membership
here and even worse, the safety of my family and myself by
posting my personal info here. That is unacceptable and as far
as I'm concerned, I tried to cooperate with him and he was irrational
and now it's between him and Paypal.

Please don't make assumptions people! I didn't even know
what happened until I read this! He didn't even let me
try to fix it. I can't help someone like that.

Yes, it's strange because it didn't happen. I sent the XM
just like I've sent other knives I've sold and hopefully will
do in the future.

He didn't even give me a chance to fix it!
Why?
I suspect he may be the one pulling the scam here,
although I have no evidence of that and would give him
the benefit of the doubt which he did not afford me.
