Yet another cancer sucks thread.

Cancer sucks? You bet ...

The man who has led our Directorate for over 2 years is retiring on 1 August. Looks like cancer got another good one. This man will be greatly missed and most Americans will never know what he has done for them.

Meanwhile, more smoke and prayers going up for Danbo!!

Prayers sent, Danbo. My BIL had the same surgery a couple years ago, it was benign and he fully recovered, so it can be "no big deal" (relatively speaking, of course).

Google Rick Simpson, and "Phoenix tears". Prayers chemo, and radiation have not helped anybody in my family yet. There is a way out of it. You can KILL that bastard. Watch out for scammers.

Hey, at least it's in your throat and not in the pooper!
Stage IIIB adenocarcinoma here- (diagnosed in Nov. of '08- 2 surgeries in '09 & 7 months of chemo) not in the "pooper" directly- but they took my ascending & most of my transverse colon- along w/ a good bit of small intestine. Hey Danbo- You've got this one dicked. Stay mean & eat right & listen to the doctors. My ex had her thyroid taken out (Hashimoto's) & she's living large on Synthroid & will be one of the only ones left around (along w/ cockroaches & twinkies & Oprah) after the bombs go off/Zombie Apocolypse, etc.- and you'll be there too. Stay positive my friend.

I just wanted to say thanks to the older folks that share these stories. I was pushed into going in to the doctor after what is probably 10-12 years and got a check up because of the recent threads. :D

I hope you are recovering well Danbo.

I have read and followed the Rick Simpson story, if you think weed did all that without a SERIOUS lifestyle change you are fooling yourself.

You got it; prayers out for you. I got my stitches taken out today. No thyroid meds yet; my next follow up visit is on the 7th. I feel fine.

Good news. Hope you have a great weekend and everything continues positive.

Just saw your thread Danbo. I know if I went into the hospital, I would have a picture of your avatar blown up and put on the ceiling...
That would certainly help keep the spirits up. Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind havin that on the bedroom ceiling, although I'm sure the milf wouldn't appreciate it.

Smoke goin up for ya from Oregon.

Update. Follow up visit today, with the doctor for the first time, since he removed my thyroid 3 weeks ago. For the first time, I heard the Stage word. He said what I had/have is early stage 1 papillary carcinoma; just about the least bad cancer can be, I think. He believes they got it all and that tests show that nothing had spread to the lymph nodes(really good thing there). Still not on meds yet, though. What happens next is, I go into the hospital for a radioactive iodine pill treatment on the morning of the 12th and they do a full body scan(outpatient). Another scan a week later; but, I believe only the one iodine treatment. Then, I start taking one little pill every morning for the rest of my life, to regulate for the missing thyroid. Doctor doesn't want to see me again until 6 weeks after the second scan(August 23rd, I think)

Good luck with the scans! Isn't it amazing, the older you get, the more pills you can swallow at one gulp ...

Just remember to bring your treatment card with you if you travel anywhere they have radiation detection setup. Makes the explaining that much simpler. You should get a card with your treatment saying that the medical people expect your treatment to be detectible until _____. It will also have what they gave you on it.

Now kick back, as much as you can, and continue to get well.

Some can and some can't. I take 8 in the morning and 4 at night.......1 at a time.

One of my brother-in-laws takes 12 in the morning in one gulp WITHOUT water.
4 of them are metformin and those are pretty big.

Good Lord. I could NEVER get down 4 of those Metformin at one time. That's oddly impressive.
