Yojimbo 2 Availability - What Happened?

Oh, "Brave New World" is here your "Fordship". The DNA is in the programs for the CNC's & Lasers, The Yojimbo2 is surely an Alpha+, each piece, refined to "now". But even clones need time to grow. G-10, modern & machined (time) to perform, Crucible Powdered steel, laser cut (time), surfaced ground to .001 (time), CNC ground (time), machined for lock tolerances (time), close tolerance lock only possible in this great modern age, all blended in assembly (time) for your dependable "High performance matter separator".

Hey Moving Target, Please have patience. I'm sure yolu will enjoy the creation. We all very worked hard to bring you a model refined and sophisticated.

Awesome, Sal! Yes, the yo2 is definitely an Alpha+. I love mine. *makes sign of the "T"*

"Get a personal relationship with a smaller dealer and you will have much better results."

Exactly what I did....very happy with the results! It takes time to foster good relationships....patiently. :)
It is indeed a sophisticated tool for a specific task. Well done!

Hahaha. Nicely done. And yes, what a great creation.

How is Spyderco underestimating the initial demand, and being unable to meet said demand, for a new product not their issue?

The problems with online pre-orders was really not the point of my original post, if you'd bothered to read it. However, most people who have run with this thread fail at reading comprehension, and so the attention-whores and fanboys have taken it in a unintended direction.

Sal already posted the only answers that mattered, or were worth reading.

Re. bolded part: if you were striving to have a civilised discussion, you just nuked the hell out of it with this comment. Very rude. I am done with this thread and you.

i was lucky enough to find some website ive never heard of with one in stock. i took the risk and ordered it...and it paid off. Only downside is, the grind on the edge, is quite uneven on one side :(

If nothing else, hopefully this thread helped some folks understand how the distribution is handled.

When we can get Sal to take the time to explain stuff to us we know we'll learn something.

I was trying hard to understand what the problem was. If it had been a sprint, I could have understood it a bit better....I get frustrated by those and they really kick in my "Spyderco Angst" (was glad to learn thats a defined condition, so I don't feel so alone now...another + for this thread), but its a regular production item so getting one at some point is not an issue.

Not even sure why one would get on a pre-order for this item. Is first-kid-on-the-block another defined syndrome? None of my friends are into knives, much less Spyderco, so maybe thats why I don't suffer from it. Only place I could brag about having the first one would be the Spyderco IRC chat room, and its hard to beat those guys to a first.

I did also learn who I probably do not want to do pre-orders with. ;), so another + for this thread.

As things go here, makes the thread overall fairly worthwhile.

Well said sir. I learned quite a bit as well. Thank you Sal!

Yes, entitlement and severe impatience. It's easy for me to spot those in other folks :grumpy: because I am subject to the same things myself :( ...I just try to keep them quiet. :o

True.

Unfortunately, it also applies to production runs. My post is a comment on the various rants and raves from folks that didn't get what they wanted. Spyderco is making as many knives as they can and dealers want to sell as many Spyderco knives as they can, but it is never good enough for some folks. They don't give a wit about the discontinued knives and closed Sprints still for sale years later. For others it's the evil speculators that sell on the secondary market.

I think singularity35 sums it up succinctly:

I hear you, same thing for me, guilty as heck.:(

Oh puhleeze, who are you trying to fool.
It's not possible to safisfy the Spyderco addiction. All you can do is feed it.

You wouldn't be a pusher would you? :D

Satisfy, are you kidding? :) All reading forums like this does is alert you to some new variation, new steel or new model that creates LACK of satisfaction. :o

True, one knife at a time.

Not a pusher, but you know the old saying, "Misery loves company." (Misery = Spyderco angst) :D
