Like the title says, Between the RC-3 and the ZT 0121, Which would you chose? They are about the same size, and both are from very good companies. You can choose even if you do not own either of them, just state what you would get! I want to see what "The People" think!

I KNOW THESE ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT KNIVES, but just answer the question!:)

PLEASE do not bash me about what you disagree with, I just want to see what the general idea would be.

Well, you obviously know neither will disappoint, but I would get the Rat. Why? I don't care much for recurves. That's about it.

Yes, I own the ZT, and will be getting the RC-3 shortly, but I thought about it and wondered what BF members would get.

I don't really like how the zt feels in my hand, and it would be hard for me to sharpen.

I really want a RC-3

If I could afford it I'd get the ZT 0121. (I'd actually like to have the ZT 0100)
But,for the money in your scenario I'd get the RC3.

I'm currently planning to get the rat RC4. For what you get it's a great knife, and Rat Cutlery(NOT the other guys) has great customer service I'm told.

ZT0121...:D

I haven't handled either the RC-3 or the 0121 yet, but the 0121 reminds me alot of the 030X-series ZT folders, and those are just about the most balanced secure-feeling knives in-hand that I've used.

Another vote for the RAT. Nothing against Kershaw, and I haven't handled the ZT, but my RC-4 is perfect. Can't wait for the RC-5 SERE and RC-6 to hit the streets.

Why choosing? Both are good and reliable knives. Your choice often depends on your mood you are in at any particular moment. So, have them both to rotate.

RC3 Mil. http://www.newgraham.com/detail.aspx?ID=46057 Its different because it has a a pointed pommel (good for glass breaking and impact), I like the sheath color better than the regular RC3, and the micarta is supposed to be grippier than the regular RC3. Other than that, go fo it because it has a very tough steal and is reasonably easy to sharpen. Plus RAT's warranty is the best in the business. The ZT may have a bit better edge retention, and corrosion resistance, but it'll be harder to sharpen. Especially with that recurved blade.

PS, SPX, The Rc6 is on the street now! Go get one!

I'm going to assume the OP means which of the two I would get to actually carry and use,
so my answer is the RAT.

In a 4" blade, I agree. I picked the RAT RC-4. Anything over that, I'd probably pick the ZT. The 0100 is 5.75" while RAT offers a soon to be released RC-5 SERE, and has already released the RC-6. The reason for the choice of the ZT0100 in this case is the blade steel. CPM3V in the 0100 versus 1095 in the RAT.

Both are incredibly well made tough knives, with excellent warranties and manufacturers backing them.
