You chose: Zero Tolerance 0121 or the RAT RC-3?

Though I'm sure the ZT is a great knife, that recurve blade and the too tacticool look makes me go for the RAT. In fact, along with the RC-6, the 3 is on my short list for this semester.

the ZT handle just ruins it for me, did not fit my hand at all. Also not sure if I'd want to batton with s30v but thats just lack of experience with it in a fixed blade.

The rc-3 however has great ergo's that fit most people great with no hot spots. The 1095 steel is flexable when it needs to be rather than brittle (obviously depends on HT, just haven't had good experience bending s30v)

Finally the RAT warranty. I mean come on, does it get any better than that?

:edit:
No difference in the warranty. Break either one and its replaced, no questions asked!

Did not know that. Knives built like tanks and a great warranty, going to look at the zt line up now...

RC-3 seems more useful and less designed like ZT with its recuvers. RC-3 is no BS work horse knife that laughs at you no matter what you throw at it. If you want excellent user knife for camping and/or survival I'd take RC-3. Ergonomics is important for the knife too and good blade profile is something you can sharpen it in the woods aswell, hence recurve of ZT is not that good as its harder to sharpen with basic stuff you might pack for camping

Well I just ordered an ESEE RC-3 in OD Green with Orange G10 handle scales
(says it all really):D
But IMHO and that's all it is, The ZT is kind of goofy for a user knife. The re-curve isn't as effective as the RAT's Drop Point for many cutting tasks, it has an odd handle to blade ratio (too short), and CPM-S30V isn't very easy to sharpen in the field for us regular joes.
Not to mention the RAT's warranty is the best in the biz.

You guys realize this thread was started almost two years ago? If the OP hasn't bought one or the other by now, he's not going to.

That said, between the ZT0121 and the RC-3 or I would get the ZT. IF we're talking RC-4 or bigger, I'd get the RAT.

Spine to edge is too long for my taste and the cord cutter looks weird, it looks like a fantasy knife to me (although I know it's got to be rugged due to the brand).

I vote for my RAT RC-3 MIL and RC-4 - which is a better comparison IMO. Tough knives with no questions asked guarantee at street prices that makes them high value knives as well. :)

Interesting Thread. Anyone now with lots of experiance using the ZT0121 care to comment further? Thanks
