You ever get a free knife?

Just to add to Zen's membership plug, a Platinum membership only costs 14¢ a day, which is pretty cheap knowledge and entertainment in my books!

Anyway, is it Kosher for a member named Kershaw to own a BM Osborne? I don't think so. To avoid bad Karma, he should immediately send it to me. :p;)

Besides gifts?

I won a BRKT Gameskeeper a few years back.

Short story. My gf and our friends... we were coming back from New Year's in Manhattan when my "keen" eye noticed a knife between the Subway tracks. I looked at it and looked at it and it looked like a Cold Steel Vaquero. My buddy was this (-) close from jumping in and grabbing it. Makes me wonder if he/we would have gotten away with it.

:)

Aside from gifts, I recently received a Benchmade mini-grip, the olive drab version.

I work night shift, and got to discussing knives with one of the off-duty officers who often stops by, and he mentioned that he had a benchmade knife that he never used, and offered it to me.

I agreed, thinking he was joking, but a few days later he stopped by and presented me with a razor-sharp Mini-Griptilian!!! :D

Needless to say I was ecstatic, and it's now my second EDC blade (The first being either my Emerson La Griffe or Spydero Tenacious.)

I won a "Lava" on the Spyderco forum a couple of months.
Thank you, Tazkristi.

I have been gifted many knives over the years---my family is at least supportive in my knife habit. :D

I too have had only one knife given to me---my mentor, a former U.S. Army Ranger that served around the theatre in Vietnam, gave me a Cold Steel Master Tanto when I returned from Philmont. He also gifted me a GPS before I went. He's a very generous man, a second father figure to me, and that knife, although a controversial Cold Steel, means more to me than most of the customs, semi-customs, and expensive production knives in my collection.

Yep, this Benchmade 612. Thanks Mr. Pete and Mr. Neal; I still charish it and always will!

I've won a couple (a Spyderco D'Allara and a Benchmade 720) here at BFC, and Ken C. sent me a Mora to try on his dime.

Hmmm... here at BFC, I've also won a t-shirt, 250 rounds of Black Hills 9mm HP, a pair of Steiner binoculars, and maybe one or two other items.

In the Bark River contest to name a new knife, I came up with the name selected, and got a free one: the E.L.K. (Essential Little Knife).

I had my Beagle bring home a bloody, Case, fixed blade, stag handled, hunter once.
It was during deer season and some hunter had gutted a deer and left it behind.
I still have it and have to smile whenever I see it and remember finding it in the yard.
So, nice of him to be so thoughtful and carry it home!

I received my first keychain knife as a gift from supplier, my friends at work gave me Native4, also most of my knives purchased on the cash, which was gifted to me on birthdays.

The only free knife I got was from rescuereilly, it was an uncle henry stockman. I will never forget it.

Not quite free, but this one cost me $20 in raffle tickets and was a hellova win for my first raffle.

Should I have given him a coin?

It is an old superstition that goes way back. That if a knife is given as a gift, a coin must me exchanged as to ward off bad luck and to ensure the friendship.

I don't pay too much attention to these types of things myself, I was just wondering if you did. ;)

I won a nice Amherst Cutlery Canoe from Pappy over on the traditional knife forum here.:D

Gave away a couple too. Gotta return the favor and continue the tradition.
If you are in a position to do so.
