You ever get a free knife?

I have a great auto mechanic and when I dropped my car off we got to talking about chat rooms and I mention BladeFourms and then my interest in knives. He then said that I was the perfect man for a knife he had found while doing construction a long time ago. When I came back he had this big grin and presented me with German “ ED Wusthop…Solingen…GES.ESCH stamped into the blade along with a three prong trident inside a circle. On the other side the blade has RZM inside a circle and M 7/18 then 1941. One side the handle is thick leather and the other side a plastic checker cover with a diamond shaped red and white emblem affixed. On the emblem is a black swastika.

He said he was with a crew tearing down a house when he happen to spot the knife between a wall support post. He wrapped it in an oiled cloth and hasn’t touched it for about 10 years. He said he didn’t care what it was worth at least it would have a home. I thanked him and will treasure it as long as I live. I don’t care what its market price is either as I am not going to sell it. All I know is this knife has some how survived this long and it at least deserves someone who will take care of it.

My mom bought me a Wenger from a factory outlet in Europe when I was 10 or 11 and handed it to me on the tour bus. I cut myself with it within minutes and bled for an hour. lol. My brother gave me an enormous Chinese folder a few years ago. It's about 12" open with a tanto blade. I don't carry it, but I kept it for the novelty value and because it's the biggest folder I own.

I got 2 from the Canadian Connection Christmas Exchange (say that 3 times fast) this year and on Saturday passed along a Buck slipjoint for a birthday present that I got from RescueRileys Christmas thread as well.

I just won a JK pocket companion in one of his giveaways. Haven't gotten it yet, but it's the first free knife I've ever gotten and my first BF contest win, so I'm excited.

first knife that i ever really got was when my brother went into the marines about 25 yrs ago... before he left for camp pendleton ca he gave me a schrade lb7... i still have the knife today.:D:D:D

I was working at my cutlery retail business a few years ago for Christmas, which is our busiest time of the season. He was looking for a decent locking folder for a good price. He had mentioned that he had a Buck Strider Police knife and that he hated it. I mentioned to him that I loved that design and would hopefully edge myself onto a real Strider folder. I recommended to him a Spyderco Delica plain edge since he didn't want too heavy or large of a knife, and no serrations. Two weeks after the new year, the gentlemen came back and appraised me for my knowledge and customer service skills and offered me the Buck Strider. I was flabbergasted at first, and kindly turned him down. But...he insisted I take it, and I did...

I swear this was a strange model of this knife too. All versions of this model I've seen with ATS34 have G10 for the handle scales, but mine has black FRN instead. Oh well...I'm still happy with the gift.
