That one hit home because that's literally how I open Amazon packages with the paper tape. Middle knuckle out like punching your friend in the arm in elementary school 🤣, then rip. Works a charm actually.
I don't extend a knuckle, but it's how I open most of 'em. I feel defeated when I have to resort to a tool.

No funnin', there's a FRN handled Gerber lockback on a shelf in my living room that I've had for at least 25 years, and I'm pretty sure it has only ever been used to open packaging. Only sharpened once. Probly less than ten bucks of late '90's money. It's that kind of longevity that allowed me to justify totally obnoxious modifications to a brand new crucarta para3, so...
