dedicated user spyderco harpy for box opening, i clean the tape gunk every few months or so? idk ive been thinking about sending it in to spyderco for spa treatment since previous owner damaged tip

My knife is so scary sharp those packages open themselves up when I whip out my knife. Just one look and they give it up ! 😆
I don’t have to whip it out. I just turn so they can see the David Mary special on my belt. Next thing I know they’re broken down in the recycle bin. Gotta check with David now to see what he’s got that will have them walking themselves down to the curb every week.

I have a couple of DMs inbound, that fella is a forum treasure!

I'm just a man who wears his heart on his sleeve and his steel on his hip (and around his neck and in his pocket, and in his other pocket and in his other other pocket)

Knife point barely touches the tape, and no residue gets on it, but that one tiny puncture breaks the surface tension and it opens by hand easily from there, in most cases. Not the fireproof fiber reinfcored tape. I hate that stuff.
I cut the ends of the tape, and just a tap on the long side on one end, rest pops open.
Normally dont get any gunk on my knives from opening boxes, but ive been opening boxes for decades at work and home, learned a thing or two.
Also, my knives are very sharp and im decent and sharpening the tips of the blades. I love cutting things with barely any pressure on the blade.
