MT. BALDY , CALIFORNIA
MT. BALDY VILLAGE,

"SWORD SEVERS ARM OF HIKER"

During a confrontation at Mt. Baldy Village a sword wielding man 'Wesley Brockway' severed the arm of another man as a fight escalated during a morning hike.

Wesley Brockway 26, of Ontario, California was booked for assault with a deadly weapon right after the Sunday noon attack said Detective Sgt. Dave Barker of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's station.

Apparently three men including Brockway encountered this individual on the trail and a fight ensued and one of the three pulled out a baseball bat and hit the lone man with it at which time Brockway pulled out a sword and swung it overhead at the man. The man trying to defend himself raised his arm for protection and got it cut off. The man is in serious condition at San Antonio Hospital as Drs. are trying to reattach his arm.

Sgt Baker said, "Why were three guys on a trail in a resort town with swords and bats....It doesn't look good for them." Charges are pending for the bat swinger and all three are on one million dollars bail. The man with the severed arm was not identified until notification of kin. :barf:

That is unbelievable.

Four things:

1) If swords aren't already illegal in California, they soon will be. I don't mean illegal to carry to but legal to own in your own home, I mean completely illegal. Like hardcore drugs illegal.

2) Making swords completely illegal will do absolutely nothing to stop attacks identical to this from happening in the future. If you make swords illegal, people who plan on using them in a crime will still own them, so it is kind of pointless.

3) I wonder if it was really a sword, or if it was something like a 24" machete? I can see the completely clueless left-wing anti-gun/knife/sword media easily making that mistake. I guess it doesn't really matter, but I just can't see carrying a sword around. Of course I also can't see carrying around a baseball bat with the intention of beating someone with it, so it very well may have been a ninja sword.

4) What is wrong with some people?

Hey Guys..

WoW....

Autin..

I was thinking Exactly the same thing...

Was more than likely a machette...
Most of those types of idiots wouldn't know the difference..

Just more reason pistol should be legal everywhere.

Imagine as the guy is raising the machette the guy double taps him in the chest with a .45..That would have solved it right there!

Now the Cali taxpayers gotta pay for these two dipshits for the next 50-60 years...

Hahah! Now that would be effective:thumbup::D!

Words of wisdom Eric...words of wisdom...

All i got to say is DAMN. The funny thing is that i know if the other guy did have a .45 and did shoot someone. He would have been in jail now trying to explain why he was carrying a gun in the first place. The other three would have been at the hospital as the victims of the mad man with the .45 . You cant win with our GOV.

That happened in one of the Indiana Jones movies, but I can't remember which one. They were in a market and some guy has two panga looking machetes he is twirling around, and Indy just shoots him in the chest with his Luger. Awesome.

I always forget to hike with my baseball bat. The problem with some of the trails that surround urban areas is the countless idiot encounters I've ad. Gangsters, druggies and drunk teenagers can take a short walk into the hills as easy as I can.

Firstly, lol at all this nonsense about banning swords entirely. I've always seen this on gun forums: "oh man now _____ will be illegal, stupid liberals!" Don't worry, the sky isn't falling. There is no where near the amount of "sword crime" going on that would make anyone, even the bradys, call for that.

If they ban swords from being owned in California, I will make a pink sheath for my mora and bring it hunting.

Raiders of the Lost Ark, and it was a S&W revolver ;)
Fun fact: that wasn't scripted, Harrison Ford had dysentery and didn't want to film the giant fight. Good thing, cause that's a great scene.

I knew it was something like that. I am glad I remembered as much as I did, since I haven't seen the movie in about 10 years.

As far as banning swords, I bet they will ban them. I doubt many people used .50 BMG's in crimes (I would be willing to bet they were never used since they are so expensive, heavy and the ammo and guns are hard to find) and they are still banned in California. Same with bayonets on rifles. How many drive-by bayonettings have you heard about? and they are still (or were) illegal in some states. The problem is that you are assuming the Brady's care about reducing crime. They care about banning all guns, regardless of the fact the guns may have never actually been used in a crime.

They also like banning guns that look scary. For example, an AR-15 was illegal but a semi-auto Remington .223 wasn't. In a gunfight, a Browning BAR in .30-06 packs a hell of a lot more punch than an AR-15 in .223. The ballistics of the two are not even close. It was just an example of the AR-15 looking dangerous and the BAR looking like a hunting gun. Wait until they start coming after sniper rifles. That is what they will call them since the general public will be scared of sniper rifles. The problem is that my Savage 111GL in .270 Win would make a hell of a sniper rifle, and they would love to take that away from me.

That's true, but .50 BMG's tend to scare people a lot more, ever since they've been portrayed as being able to shoot down planes (lol.) Swords don't have any possible way to be portrayed as such a powerful "wmd" so they won't be as scary. Swords just aren't scary. Maybe if it was a black coated tactical tanto blade, with a vertical fore grip ;)

wtf is this madness!?

hahahahahah!!

guys with swords and bats!?

wtf

what else is hike gearl today in california? :D

Haha, can't wait to see what a 'sword' is. If California government is good at anything, it's emotional knee-jerk reactions. Want to start a pool about what the new legal blade length limit will be? I say 4", which is a pretty liberal estimate.

I wonder if it was scandi, convex or a normal v grind, lopping someones arm off seems to be pretty good performance. ;) Chris

So let me get this straight.... Brockway and his two buddies encountered this loner. One of Brock's friends swings a bat at the loner, then Brock swings a sword at the loner? That seems overkill... did the last guy have a beheading axe and forget to use it? Three guys walk onto a trail carrying atleast one baseball bat and one sword/machete......??? You know if it was the other way around and the loner used his machete/sword to defend himself against three attackers, I could justify the brutality. Very "South American style". What ever happened to the good ol' gang up n' lay the boots to your victim?
