You mean "fark," right?

The ruger 22/45 is a nice gun. But seems heavy to me and has a louder report than most. That's why I sold mine anyway.

I have a Ruger Standard model, but I would like to get a S&W model 17 4 inch

Thank you everyone for your kind words and congratulations Paden! Do you know if you're going to be buying pink or blue onesies yet? I've got a girl already so I'd like a boy but it is something special to be a dad to a little girl (as well as terrifying haha).

Lots and lots of pink

another vote for the Buckmark.
much easier to take apart to clean than the Ruger as well.
grew up shooting the MkII, first time i held a Buckmark I never looked back.
OTOH, I'm seriously considering picking up a TD 10/22

Thanks guys, I've had the nagging thought of getting the Buckmark. I want a quiet woods pistol, so it might just be the ticket.

I keep looking at 10/22s as well, but my Remington 597 is a great shooter, so I'm holding back for a while. The 597 has one flaw...the magazine's suck. There's a brand called Keep Shooting that makes great mags for it and after getting those, free floating the barrel, and putting in the Volquartsen hammer, it's really nice. I might put a new stock on it this winter, but I'm ok with the factor grey plastic for now.

I have a marlin model 60 .22 it's a great little gun. 18 round tube mag and they dont cost that much either

I like my Ruger M77 MKII 22.LR All Weather, but they are kind of expensive.
ETA, Oh, we're talking about pistols... I ABSO-FRICKIN-LUTELY LOVE my Ruger Mark II's.

And speakin of my opinion,if your lookin to buy a good .22 pistol you should look into the browning buckmark. That gun is hard to beat in my book.

Yes. If you want 1911-style controls and ergo's, the Buckmark is TOPS. I've got a 7.25" OD green tacsol barrel on mine. suhweeet... a bit light for bullseye, though, and the sights are de-horned. Now I use my E. Hartford High Standard Sharpshooter for smallbore bullseye. Those old (pre-mitchell) HS's are *amazing*. I like me a HEAVY .22 pistol.

The 10/22 is great, but frankly I prefer a fixed-breech .22 rifle. They clean up easier, seldom mis-feed, and I'm never in a rush to burn ammo.
Their shorter barrels (most of them) and the blowback bolt contribute to a louder report at the shooter-end.

The primary lack in my .22 stable is a Ruger single-six.

I'm betting something can be arranged if you come up this way in November... (or sooner)

Completely off topic, A bottle brush is your friend. Buy one.
Washing up some dishes and a glass shatters apart in my hand. All the way to the bone half way around the pinky and into the palm, barely missed the tendon. Lots of stitches and a big fat bill.

So far saturday sucks donkey poo.

That sucks! More so for someone like you who depends on his hands for his work. (Artwork in your case). :)

Dam, better make a leather band-aid. Very bad spot for anyone more so when you work with your hands.

you're lucky sky, I hit a tendon in my finger with the tip of a knife and took about a year to gain full function...

sorry to hear about that, I would put a splint on it so you can continue working, keep you from bending it..
