I'm 16. My main interest in knives are Kershaws and ZT's. The largest knife I own is a Kershaw Camp 10. Like Kirby, I'm very excited for the batch of BW Skylines.

Out of all of you, who likes traditional knives? Please don't let me be alone. :o

You guys have some knice stuff for your age, I only had maybe a half a dozen knives till I was 20, if you don't mind my asking, where do you get your money for knives?

I'm 53 and I have a 50 year old buddy I've known since he was 16 and you folks have qa nicer collection of quality knives than he does. It's taken me 40 years to accumulate over 300 knives, I'd hate to see where some of you guys get up to by the time your 50... :) ;)

Keep up the good work, you folks are the future of our community, the future of knife collecting and use is in your hands...

Thanks for the kind words!

Where do we get the cash? Anywhere we can. We also don't pay taxes. :D

How young is young? I'm 22 and for the last year and a half I've been trying to get a taste of everything. I really like ZT and Microtech and my biggest knife is my 0777

Food, tax, rent, electric, transportation, water, all expense free, $10 a day at a thrift store (6 hour days) and in a month.....you get the point :D

Nope you aren't alone. I am currently 20 years old but I received my first traditional when I was 10 years old. First my mom's girl scout knife and then my own SAK recruit. Still have that blade and carry it on occasion. I also have a nice mix of case knives from all years (CV sodbuster jr, peanut, and a stockman from '80) and one of the GEC traditional forum knives form last year.

I also have several spyderco's (sage 1, manix 2, chicago, delica g10) but have owned many more (military, salt 1, pacific salt, stretch, ladybug, dragonfly, ffg XHP manix 2 sprint --> the knife that got me into fine blades and Spydercos in particular). I have owned and passed on 2 Benchmades (mini grip, 710). And was able to pick up a small lefty 21 micarta Sebenza as my high school grad present to myself! My two most commonly carried blades are definitely my sebenza and my Spyderco para 2 S90V CF sprint run from several years ago.

In regards to fixed blades I owned an ESEE 4 that I beat the crap out of. Currently I got into the Survive Knives! blades...so I picked up a GSO 4.1 in M390 and am now waiting for my GSO 10 to come in.

I have been able to streamline my "collection" to blades that I actually carry and use vs ones I just wanted. Learning to be content with a knife...any knife of quality that is...is a valuable lesson I have learned. At the end of the day any knife still has the same basic function...to cut things.

16 here, going to be 17 in a month or so. I started collecting knives about a year ago. Ill have to post a collection tomorrow.

Its cool seeing other people our age on here :)

I'll post one as well. Oh yeah, I think OP wanted people to state their largest knife. What's yours?

I forgot to say mine..... I personally have no use for fixed blades, living in in suburban New York and all, so I have all folders. Biggest one is my ZT 0200.

Oh yeah haha i forgot too. My largest folder is probably my Ontario Utilitac. The only Fixed blade i edc is a an ESEE Izula. I prefer smaller knives as an EDC :)

Very cool to see this many young knife guys as it is very rare around me. Not too many people share are addiction where they will spend hundred on knives. I am 18 (Hopefully not too old for the thread as just turned it not long ago) and enjoy all types of knives. I have Kershaw, Benchmade, ZT, Leathermans, a few traditionals, Microtech, and even have started making my own fixed blades. So I have tons of knives and have rapidly increased my taste as far as expense goes in the last 6 months. I have now become in higher end productions like CRK, Strider, and Microtech and ZT which I currently own some of those. I also have really been even more interested in customs and have placed a few orders already and am always shopping for them. Does not help that I also buy and collect firearms as well as watches which is my newest addition to my addictions.

I see where I went wrong, I was living on my own at 17, I don't blame you guys it's expensive to live away from home, my daughter is gonna be 23, (she has a small collection herself, mostly Girl Scout knives) and she's got one more semester of college till she gets her Masters degree, she works full time and she lives at home.

Build your collections now, once you start college, move out, get married, have kids, it gets harder, (now I'm depressed, I miss being younger :) )

Alright, I'm gonna bug outta yer thread now, again thanks for being a great example of responsible young collectors, I enjoy your posts and I'll see ya around the forums. BTW, start collecting traditional patterns, you'll get there eventually anyway and you could get into some custom traditionals now from new up and coming makers at a reasonable price and 20-30 years from now you'll own some nice investment pieces.

Later guys enjoy your thread.

Double post

See what happens when you get old, you forget and repeat yourself... ;):)

Hey guys! Im 16 years old and have been a member of this forum for about a year and a half. (I think) My love for knives started when my dad let me buy a Mini Sodbuster from Lowes when I was about 8 years old. I was always outside doing something, and that Sodbuster was always with me. I really got into the world of knives when I lucked into buying a BK11 from a military surplus store when I was 12 years old. I got a taste of quality and been a knife guy ever since! My collection isnt huge. I pretty much have all users because at 16 I cant willy nilly buy knives because I got a trigger happy mouse clicking hand. I usually take in 2-3 knives a year. One for my birthday, one for Christmas, and one from Bladeshow each year. (Luckily I live 30 minutes east of ATL. Woot!) For my rotation I seesaw back and forth between a BM Minigrip and a 940. When im on the water fishing I usually take my Ontario RAT 1 or buck vantage select. When im in the woods or in the shop I got the Izula 2. Here's a couple pictures to keep yall entertained. Sorry for the rambling haha.

Me striper fishing with a Buck vantage select clipped to my front left pocket.

And my much loved, irreplaceable izula 2!

Way ahead of ya ;)

Thanks for stopping by!

Oh I left out a big part of my whole "how I got into knives" story :D When I was 14 I saw a special on the history channel about crucible steel from some famous black smith. Anyway I set out to make my own forge and I actually pounded out serviceable knives that dont look horrible. They just arent pretty! Haah. I made the forge out of a giant oil funnel and some piping, along with my moms hair dryer. Heres the picture of my first 2 knives I forged! Right now im working on a tomahawk head out of a ballpeen hammer. Youtube can teach you alot!

I'd like to start collection traditionals actually, I want to invest in a good sharpener and save some for blade show first. I'll certainly take your advice, though. :) I'm trading CJZ for a GEC boys knife in bone so it's a start!

Please check in now and then, I always enjoy your posts. :)
