  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Oh, today I'm carrying a becker bk9, becker bk16, becker bk11, ESEE IZULA, KA-BAR Dozier folder (why not? :D)

We're going to 1,000 posts...or else, you kids...:D

I'm back! Whew. It turned out that I had grown out of my La Sportiva hiking boots, so I had to wear sneakers. My feet hurt like nothing else!

We ended up going over 7 miles, and the trail was really steep. And although it was in the 50s, the trail had about 3 inches of ice on it, which made for very slow and dangerous going. Once, I fell on a rock and my Nikon D5100 that was around my neck took the brunt of it. Thankfully, all that broke was a $5 skylight filter, and the lens was undamaged.

More pictures coming tomorrow.

I'm planning on homeschooling my daughters, currently 2 and 3 years old. My state has a program for homeschoolers to track their progress related to the state exams. Every year after 5th grade they have to test and score above the bottom 15%, which I don't think will be a problem. The public schools are open to us for any classes we might want our kids to participate in.

Are there any classes that you think would be good for homeschool kids to get involved with in the public school system? I thought it would be nice to have our kids go to public school for gym and any athletic type after school activities. Given your experience as a homeschool-educated person, what do you think would be good for my kids?
