Sounds fun SBK (except for the falling part).

Yeah--lots of fun! Like I said, I'll get a better write-up in this thread later.

I'm planning on homeschooling my daughters, currently 2 and 3 years old. My state has a program for homeschoolers to track their progress related to the state exams. Every year after 5th grade they have to test and score above the bottom 15%, which I don't think will be a problem. The public schools are open to us for any classes we might want our kids to participate in.

Are there any classes that you think would be good for homeschool kids to get involved with in the public school system? I thought it would be nice to have our kids go to public school for gym and any athletic type after school activities. Given your experience as a homeschool-educated person, what do you think would be good for my kids?

Ask that on a parenting forum, not a knife forum.;) Plus, I'm 13, do you really want my opinion on how you as an adult should teach your kids? I do all my classes/subjects at home, except for piano, which is with a Suzuki teacher and swimming with a coach at a pool.

Ha! I have piano to, A Lady at our church is teaching me.

Cool!

Our hike yestday ended up being 8.3 miles, but it took longer than it should've, as there was ice on almost the entire trail. Still, it was fun, and a great way to spend a Saturday.

I wanted to try out a new B.O.B. setup, so I caried all of this:

Daypack
Water bottle
MSR backpacking stove
Fuel for ^^
Instant soup
Snack food
Water-proof container of matches and a striker
Tikka XP 2 head lamp (I found this as an extra in a box of outdoor gear that I bought)
Sawyer mini water filter, pouch, and back wash syringe
Lightweight coat
Water-proof container of horse hair, fatwood, and a LMF Scout
Wool hat
Gloves
Smallish titanium pot and rubber lid
Insulated cup
Medium size first aid kit
6x8 foot tarp
50 feet of paracord
Becker BK2
Becker BK14 in pocket
Benchmade Griptilian

This setup came to arround 11 pounds, but it seemed like the right gear/weight for a B.O.B.

Since "This Thread is Nothin' Without Pichers.

The only really dry part of the hike:

Thanks for looking!

The 2 just rode along, as I couldn't find anything (legal) to do with it. There were some large stumps that looked good for fatwood, but they were in a "Habitat Conservation Area" were the authorities arrest you if you sneeze. Pulling a 5 inch knife and chopping into a stump might not be the best thing to do. ;) The worst thing about the HCAs is that while people can go off trail with a (free) permit, dogs are only allowed on the trail.

It's a Vaude Ultra Hiker 20l. I got it on sale a few years ago, and I have used it on countless hikes and camping trips. It is really comfortable, as it has an internal frame and curved mesh back to keep your back cool. Here's a (not so good) picture:

19 here 20 in May, not exactly a minor, but still young. I've been EDC'ing my BM 890, 551 and my BM HK 3.5 Ghost a lot lately. But I try to mix it up with a Buck 110, Kershaw Chive or a Kershaw Wade Officer. Jeez...I think my biggest knife at this point is my Gerber Profile. Gave my CRKT M60 to my brother in the Marines and gave my MKIII USN to his dad, He fell in love with that MKIII, I couldn't deny a 28 year Military Vet :) I will be getting a new MKIII and a SCAR Ballistic soon.

Alright, i need some opinions. I want to get a fixed blade edc but I'm torn on which one. It is between the izula, bk11 and 14. Let me know what you think.

I'm 14 and I've got a ZT 0350 in my back pocket. I've carried it every day for 2 years.

I'm gonna upgrade to a Spyderco domino or Emerson CQC 15 in the next few days.

I have a few Beckers and and ESEE 4. And a DPX HEFT

I have a soft spot for Beckers lol

Becker BK14. I don't have an 11 or Izula, but the 14 is a better deal than the Izula and has a better handle than the 11 from what I have heard.

Welcome! What Beckers do you use?

Thanks!!! I have modded the snot out of all of them. My 11 looks like a little Bk-5 lol. My 16 has an acid etch and a choil. And I gave my 14 a high convex. I use the 9 for killing zombies and stuff :D I haven't used any of them in a while though. The 14 is probably my favorite.

I was wondering the same thing a little while ago. I ended up going with the Izula because it had a shorter blade, an for regular EDC I'd rather have a shorter blade length. I love the Izula so much but I'm thinking about getting a BK11 as a camp knife. The Izula's a great choice, but I've heard nothing but goo things about Beckers.

Since you already have an Izula, I would recommend a tweener (15,16,17) for your first Becker. A 17 is also an amazing "do-all" camp knife. Pair it with a necker and a chopper and you're set!

17 checking in here! I'll try to post some pics of the collection later, but first, I have a question! How do some of you 13,14,15 year olds afford Benchmades, Spydercos, ZTs, etc? Whatever you're doing, I need to try it! I'm sure its different for some, especially if you have a parent into knives. My dad is not a knife guy. (Working on it though!) Either way, certainly cool to see others my age into knives.

I own all three and (IMO) I would get the IZULA, I like the becker bk11 more then the IZULA but for EDC I would prefer the IZULA, More carry options.

I dont know how everyone else does it. But I get hold of work here and there. My uncle does tree work and I get a job with him some times. I had a huge bet that I won too that helped. Its getting more difficult because I need to buy my clothes and tools for school. And I save good amounts to work on my truck for when I can drive. I average 2-5 knives a year. Depending on what I'm buying. A lot of those are gifts though. 2 of my good friends are hooked up pretty good, One with a blue delica and one with a Becker Bk-17

This summer I might have a solid job with tree work for one of my fathers friends. Probably have to use that to buy tools though.

My parents think my obsession is weird, but they don't discourage it.

I mean, I work 20+ hours a week, but I gotta save for a car too. I WISH I could just buy knives, lol, but there are other things to save for.

I hear ya'
My brother is 16 and has no ambition to do anything in life. He thinks I'm crazy to save my money for my future.

I'm gonna pick up an Emerson soon and then try to take a break from fun things for a while.

Hi Guys!

With the recent thread concerning kids and knives, I thought it would be fun to start a thread for kids with knives. I'm 13, and I know there are a few others out there. (30ZappHappy30, Mountain Mist)

How about this: Post a picture of some of your knives in use, your age, and any other info you care to share about knives. Also state the largest knife you own.

Example:

I'm 13, and I EDC many Benchmades, Spydercos, and Kershaws. I also enjoy fixed blades. My largest knife is a Swamp Rat Battle Rat, with a 9.5 inch blade.

What do you use to sharpen that swamp rat?

I just try to save up money from work most of the time, and birthday/holiday stuff sometimes. And same thing with my dad but I think he is starting to get into knives. I got him a Kabar Dozier Folder for Christmas and he carries it all the time

I would love to get one of those, but I don't have the cash. I think I might just stay with my Izula though. It's small but it's handled fine while camping. I want a new fixed blade but t the same time i cant decide on one. So ill probably hold off. I can't wait fr the kershaw CQC-6K though.

Also, I'm not sure if its different through different states but the fixed blade length here is 4in I think, does it change if your camping or anything, like would it be okay to take something like a BK9 (for example) to go camping?
