Hello all, give me please your opinions on that - what I'm looking for is something like a Glock in pistols category. OK I know it is a blasphemy but my .45 is Glock 21. :D

my favorite machete is a 12 inch tramotina that was convexed by siguy the whole rig cost me 15.00 in total... it is all about function..if you are looking more for an aesthetic partner to a Glock pistol than maybe something like a BRKT golok would be more to your liking.

I don't have one yet but Check out Bark River Knives. They have one it's 1095 steel and marcata handles..there about $130 U.S.

I love my 12in Tram Rescue Riley gave me last year, but I like the length of my 16in Okapi better.

I have a 23" or 24" trmontina that is a great work horse, hasen't let me down.

Ive found that anything 18 inches or so works pretty well after you regrind the factory "edge". Ive actually never owned a machette that came with a good edge on it stock.
If i had to choose I would go with ontario.

I like my Condors personally, but the customized Ontario wouldn't be a bad route. The Condors come with a polished convex edge right out of the box and the sheaths are really something special. Lot's of blade options, too!

I have a barteaux 24" and love it. probably the most durable machete I've ever owned. I personally buy long machetes as the longer blade is more suited to clearing a path through vegetation.

I use my 14" Tram Bolo and 12" Tram the most. I have a Condor that Horn Dog made me buy a while back, but I don't have the handle straightened out yet, so I don't have an opinion on it yet... I don't think of my BRKT Golok as a machete, but if it is, its the hands-down fav! The BRKT sails through wild roses and brush like a light saber. Big Ox referred to it as "an 11" straight razor that every outdoorsman needs to own", he's right....

this one is from koyote, its kind of a mix between a machete and a chopper. its a great knife. i also use a 14'' tramontina frequently, and i cant complain about that one either.

For the $ I like Ontario Machete's  I have the 12" & it does real good ! It works great with my mora clipper as a Budget Combo;)

My 14" Tamontina bolo is my most oft-used machete, and my nicest all around (I have a mix of Trams, Ontarios, and CSs). The 18" Tram is not far behind.

I find the Ontario machetes too thick and heavy for the kind of work where a machete excels.

I love Bark River knives, but I would advise against buying their machete. Golok, yes. Machete, no. It is an Ontario that has been modded. Modded very well, but worth an extra $100? I personally don't think so.

I have a 12" Ontario and 12" Tram. I'm currently in the process of convexing the Ontario, a VERY long process using sandpaper and a mousepad.:o

If you want something nice that is also very functional, go with a BRKT Golok or have Christof (Koyote Knives) make you something. If you want something that won't cost much but will perform like a champ, go with the Ontario.

Here in the US I like the 12 inch Ontario. I just used it the other day to harvest a log of Cedar for a few projects I have in mind. It handled the chopping and splitting with no issues.

In Brazil I carry the 16 inch Tramontina more than anything else. They are hard to beat as a general purpose blade.

I am also partial to the 14 inch Tramontina Bolo. If you don't own one you should, it is the AK-47 of big blades.
