Your Castaway Knife

Lots of busse knuts everywhere!(maybe we could all donate $5 and build him a factory 10xs bigger so they get made faster!) The original poster said no axes or hatchets but didnt Tom turn that ice skate into an axe like arrangement later in the movie? If the knife in question is a freebie then I'd go with a Infi clip point battle mistress...them suckers is tough! and a broke tool(if theres only one) means some boat full of rich tourist chicks is gonna find your bones someday.

As much as I like the Busse FSH- too heavy, as much as I would like the Battle Rat- too long?

One of the best all-arounders (IMO)- the long lost Camp Tramp!

Fallkniven A1. The thick spine would be perfect for opening coconuts. :D

tough one. Seriously tough one.

Here's the three choices:

case rigger's knife.

swiss champ

8 inch leuku.

The rigger's knife I think would be most useful for gettin a sailable boat together. I'm stuck with rocks and wedges to build the thing anyhow. might as well save myself the risk of being completely n00b and have decent standing and running rigging

The swisschamp would probably be the best "living" knife for tools.

And, the leuku would be my preference for all around indefinite primitive survival

one box is a box that a fellow forumite was shipping to an eagerly awaiting bladeforums exchange customer.

Since it's an exchange a big CRK hollow handle filled with goodies would be welcome.

A big HI khukuri would be welcome too since in addition to being a lot of steel the sheath, karda, and chakma are always part of the set.

Of course if those don't fly a Battle Mistress gets the call although an INFI AK47 might be a good alternative.

Well, if it's a knife mis-shipped and never gonna make it to its owner, it's obviously gonna be a Brad Duncan.................

Lots of good choices here. My brain hurts trying to think of all the good options out there. I guess I'll go with the Fallkniven A1. Anything's better than a hockey skate.

I think I am gonna go with the natives, or at least the natives of that kind of environment.

Machete, Golock, Bolo, Parang or similar...

And BTW, this is one of my absolute favorite movies without a question, and not even really so much for the outdoor/survival content, but for the powerful undercurrents of emotion and meaning that flow through the movie. Amazing.

I have nothing but this knife which can be somewhat suitable for this kind of situation.

I mean the knife. not the sandwich nor rice ball. ;)

Most of us have his book. I wouldn't be upset to find out that all I had was his knife.
