Friends,
Id like your advice on a 3" fixed blade.
This is NOT due to legal restrictions, but because I want a small but good belt knife.
I already have a Bark River PSK -just a bit too small-and a Bark River Mini Northstar but that's over 3" in blade. Both very fine knives mind.
Any suggestions please?

If you're willing to go to 3.5", there's TONS of great knives at Ragweed Forge in that size range, and I find puukkos to be very useful for a lot of different tasks.

I would email some of our custom makers and have one made to your specs. Several makers have affordable prices for a basic fixed blade.

Busse Game Warden.
If you want custom, then I suggest that you look at the makers section here. I will personally recommend Sean O'Hare, Tom Krein, Tommy Gann. I own knives from these makers. I will also suggest Karl B. Andersen & Bill Buxton.

it is a Tom Krein Woodcarver. it is easily the best fixed blade I own and possibly the best knife I own. It is a very special knife since it was Tom's own user......:D

Graham Bros Spearpoint is a great knife and it fits in your front pocket perfectly with the pocket sheath them make with it.

BRK Lil Bird and Trout is right at 3"
Tom Krein makes several under 3"
Scott Gossman PSK

The new CRKT production version of the Graham stubby razel may be just right for you.

Keep an eye out for one of the thin (.14" or .17") Busse Game Wardens.

Actually slightly below your stated desired blade length of 3", you might check out the Buck Mini Alpha Hunter.

Graham Brothers Razel.

If not one of their customs, then a CRKT produced one. A standard Razel has been my EDC ever since it arrived.

Friends,

Thanks for all your suggestions.Whilst I THINK I know a bit about knives this has given me a lot of food for thought, that picture of the Tom Krein knife certainly set the pulse racing as did the Busse Game Warden-something I'd overlooked. This needs some more pondering, cheap or dear I'm considering many:D

I want a 3" blade as I'm after compact carry but not too micro either...

Thanks
