Your choice of 3" fixed blade

Another vote for the Busse Game Warden. I recently picked up a Sterile Pumpkin GW and love it. This one is an "in between" thickness at 0.22 as compared to the 0.14 "boney" version and the 0.27 "fat" version.

Scott Cook small Owyhee hunter. Scott is not taking orders for his folders but I believe he may be taking orders for the Owyhee hunters. They can sometimes be found in the aftermarket.

I like the Ontario RAT-3.While it has a 3.3 inch blade it is close to your original request and is very durable in 1095 steel.YMMV.tom.

a lot of good suggestions!

for me it would be the GameWarden

the Mudpuppy

for the feel, and for the warranty.

The Game Warden is a really excellent choice for a belt knife and serious user.

The Swamp Warden has a similar blade and overall length, but is much lighter and has skeletonized handles- even cord-wrapped it wouldn't be as comfortable as a user but is plenty light enough to stick in a pocket or wear as a necker.

Yes, I have both.

Here is the Bark River Huntsman and a KSF pocket sheath:

For belt carry, the new Buck Gen5's, the top 005RWS in 154CM/bottom 005GYS in 420HC, are great 'woods-stompers'. The lower one has a more functional horizontal carry - ~$55. The rosewood/brass/154CM one has a vertical leather sheath - ~$75. I have pocket carried both.

There are less expensive alternatives...

Stainz,
I like the LOOK of those Bucks, a knife I don't usually consider.Find that horizontal carry very practical too. But, aren't they 4" blades there?

The Huntsman also looks very credible too:thumbup:

I'm very fond of a Newt Livesay NRGS in 1095 that I've had for a long while.

I've had a few, but for me the BRKT and Busse had the same problem, that choil. Both caught on things when cutting, so both went away. My vote goes to the TUSK or Woodland. Maybe a Benchmade Activator?

Wilson Tactical Model 3 Utility. I have a 3" bladed one and a custom 4" bladed one, both serve me very well. Also look at the Grayman Mini-Dinka or a Busse Game Warden (I'm going to have to pick one up sometime, but I just paid for a new BATAC and sheath that haven't even arrived yet :D). Maybe even one of the new Busse HACK knives...? Bob Dozier's Arkansas Toothpick is being sold on the cheap with no wait time at AG Russell's now, and the MercWorx Orian is another superb choice.
