Your COVID19 responses (projects you’re doing), let’s see ‘em, and mine (86 splitback whittler mod)

Again not a project, but this is serious. Like everybody I was aware of the movement that started in Napoli consisting of applauding the Nurses, Doctors and all Caregiver. everyday at a fixed time.
This evening at 8pm it was the turn of my street to join the movement. I am impressed.

Excellent, Jolipapa! :thumbsup::cool::cool::thumbsup:
My daughter has friends in Madrid, and one of them shared a video of that movement taking place in Madrid. She shared it with us; very impressive! :):thumbsup: I think the Madrid source said the next day they added an earlier time so the children could participate also; I guess the original time was after kids had gone to bed.

As an essential employee at the hospital I am working, but I did wash my mailbox and post this weekend
My wife and I are as well but not at a hospital I’ll bet those are bonkers, our school and daycare closed a week and a half ago but we can do about half at home so it’s a lot of coordination but we’ve been really lucky so far. Hope it’s all over soon.
J jsdistin Great project. Mine is less hands on....it involves stalking the postman for a packet you recently sent me :D:cool:
I hope it makes the return trip faster, I look forward to any feedback.

J jsdistin , that whittler is quite the interesting idea. I appreciate someone who can think outside the frame!

Amongst the other knife related projects that I am trying to catch up on, I had an itch I just had to scratch. I really liked the 2019 forum knife, but I thought it lacked a little flash, so I put my own spin on it...

The stag was a dye experiment I was playing around with. Hope the forum knife gods don't strike me down for what I did to this one.

Oh my goodness, it's perfect!
I would have bought it in that configuration.

Wonderful!! This is how I had envisioned it in my head when we were first talking up the 2018 forum knife before a sample was even made.

That’s great! You flipped the secondary around too, huh, very cool! I’ve thought about putting a cap lifter on a whittler a lot as well but I only have 3 and I like them where they are, for right now at least.

For anyone who is interested...Im happy with the way it turned out, and cant wait to hone the craft! :)

We did it here last night Alain, I have to say it was pretty moving :)

That looks fantastic Glenn, well done

And doesn't it look good? See Will Power Will Power ! It's NOT a "dirt trap"! o_O :p

It is good to keep the hands busy. I'm no knife maker, but do enjoy building slingshots. It's been a while since I've made one though, because I've been running out of places to put them ;)

Decided to work on one as there's not a lot else to be accomplishing at the moment.

Started by laminating some African Mahogany and phenolic resin together

Cut out and setting some brass pins

And that's it for today. Tomorrow we'll do some more sanding and shaping, and get the first coat of boiled linseed oil on it :)

Cool, keep posting as you work on it, I’ll be interested in seeing the progress.

Sorry, no pics...
I serviced the front brakes on my wife's car today. I ended up just taking the calipers and pad carriers off, removing the rust, lubing with high temp metallic grease, and reassembling everything. I took it out for a spin, and all is well.

The brake warning light was on, so I had figured I'd put in new pads and sensor, but the inside of the drivers driver's side disc was half corroded, which munched the sensor. The pads have months of wear left on them. It's time for me to get discs too, for the front.

I did the work in my driveway, and I can feel it in my knees as I write this. I miss having a hoist to work on cars, but I can't say I miss wrenching for a living.

Best all

P.S. super cool projects y'all, every single one. The whittler, the sheath, the 'improved' forum knife, and the slingshot, are all impressive.
I hope I didn't forget anything.

I've been doing some work reorganizing my garage workshop adding a second smaller workbench, and clearing out some junk to make more room.
In all the chaos of doing that I've decided I wanted to upgrade from my Western forge Craftsman screwdrivers. ( Some of the handles are smaller than they should be )
Bought some awesome classic Stanley 100 plus screwdrivers first, then some nice Pratt-Read screwdrivers to try out. I've had some experience with the 100 plus which lead to choosing them, but the P-R drivers are something I've yet to experience.

I've got a couple knife projects here and there that I could get to work on, but I need to finish getting my garage sorted out first.

Don't believe Forum Knife Gods ever strike anybody whose intentions are good ;) It would also look decent in some special Micarta, Rag comes to mind but Micarta works very well with an all stainless finish, even more durable  As it is, the Buck knife and the 2014 Stag are my most used FKs by far, both different but both  as they have Longpull and Antler.

Sheath and knife that belongs in it. :D

I got the “traditional” pic right today. :) I still feel a little sheepish for the “modern” pic post the other day. Thank you both for the correction, and that you weren’t harsh. Appreciated.

Fun parts of the build are now done. The rest is just applying BLO and waiting for it to dry between coats. Few days until I can band it up and try it out.
