Your Favorite GEC

I only own several GEC knives and really like them all! I would pick this one just because the hunt for her was kinda fun:D

That lava lamp is one great looking one! I wish GEC would make a run of the lava lamp on their 25s or 23s.

Lousy picture--great knife.

Oh, BTW, about their half stops. If I moved that clip point open a fraction more it would snap straight up--very powerful.

i love their cubans # 53. My first was a snakewood cuban stockman, and I still keep it on my coffee table to just admire when it is not in my pocket.

you boys drove me crazy, just ordered 4 more gecs. handles are ruhbarb acrylic, real stag, 2nd cut ram horn, & appalossa bone. hope to get this computer right so i can show pics.

mike i ,love you but ksf had some handles i could'nt pass on. did'nt want to split order so went one direction. mdls are 54 in big jack & moose.53 muskrat furtaker & 73 jack. may get in trouble with this post. talk to you next week. thanks. [had to pay more]

Dead Skunk is one of my favorites. But I am also a fan of the newer rhubarb, but it doesn't seem to have gathered as nice a following. Love the ones that look like 1920's composites; but when they come up with a name as cool as dead skunk you have to own one.

Dennis, was wondering if you got one of the 54 frame appaloosa as it was a much more contrast dye job than the 25 models. Haven't seen one yet that didn't look really nice; like the 1980era Case Balloon Jack. Also the 2nd Cut Ram's Horn came on a couple of models (and one contract model) that was just outstanding. Can't wait to see your pictures.

I like that dead Skunk myself...what a name. :)

BTW, I just sent you an email a few minutes ago.

I just opened my first GEC. It is a #73 single blade, liner lock Scout with white bone scales. As expected fit and finish are 100%. Also, the blade came very sharp. The only problem I have is the backspring is very stiff. I have cleaned, oiled, and exercised it and maybe it is a little easier to open. Any other suggestions. Also, what degree angle on the Sharpmaker?

Anybody who thinks acrylic is out of place on a Traditional really NEEDS TO LOOK at the Lava Lamp or Dead Skunk from GEC, they really enhance many patterns, think celluloid without the drawbacks:thumbup:

I'm keeping a keen eye on their Tortoiseshell acrylics, I feel I need a fix:D

By now I have splattered this knife all over bladeforums, but it is my favorite GEC

That being said, I really like the lava lamp acrylic and I really love the copper snake acrylic. Something in copper snake acrylic will be my next purchase from GEC.

Wow -those are some nice GEC knives. This is a dangerous thread to look at -I might have to make an order soon.

I only have one GEC knife at the moment. It is a #23 Pioneer in Bocote wood. It is beautiful.

My favorite may be their fixed blade, which I have only seen in pictures. I am going to order one soon, also in Bocote. Does anyone have this sheath knife?
