Here's the rules. You get two choices. What is your favorite fixed blade knife and what is your favorite folder? And...why?

(I had to put fixed blade in here or the sebenzanistas would take over the thread)

Mine is a folder,
Larry Chew Cujo,,why-well pick up one of Larry's knives some time and work the action feel the balance view the craftsmanship and you will know.

Folder-Emerson CQC-8, works well for everything, and fits me like a glove.

Fixed-For a do everything (tool or weapon), Strider WB. Pure big tough weapon, Emerson Warrior. Oops two, sorry. The Strider is tough as nails and I've deployed it in several tactical scenarios and it cuts and prys well with unbelievable penetration ability. The Warrior fits my hand and fighting style, but it lacks the brute tool ability of the Strider.

Fixed: Griffith Marksman. A great shape for a bench knife, with the most comfortable handle I have ever felt on a hand tool.

Folder: Sebenza. The most reliable folder available.

How could I possibly resist a Q like this?
It's a totally tough Q, but here goes.

For a folder, it has to be the Spyderco Military because it's got almost all the features I want in a folder. Full height flat ground CPM440V blade, VERY strong lock, ergonomic handle with built in pinkie protection, a ricasso that protects the fingers in case of accidental closure, a velvety smooth action and it's made by one of the best Company's in the business.

There are several more that are my favorites, but this one kinda stands out.

For a fixed blade (factory), it would have to be the Fallkniven A-1. This is one tank tough knife that has at it's core one of my all time favorite steels, VG10.
The knife is constructed in such a way as to absorb some brutal use and abuse and keep coming back for more. The blade takes a scary sharp edge and holds onto it for a good while, the handle is comfy to grip, the butt end has exposed steel, giving the user the option of pounding if the need arises. The blade has a gentle curve along it's entire length, making slicing type cuts easier. A very nice knife.
The only weakness in this package is that damned Cordura sheath. What a POS. I hear that Fallkniven is offering Kydex now, so one would be wise to get an A-1 with that sheath material.

As with the folding knives, I have several more that are favorites, but this one stands out for me.

If it's stupid but works, then it isn't stupid!

I'm not going to mention knives I made.... I put away my Randalls in a layer of Renaissance Wax 6 months ago..... The only two custom folders I own are also in hibernation.....
Right now my favorites would have to be my Marksman by Lynn Griffith and My new SpeedTech Synergy. Both of these knives have generated smiles and drooling wherever I take them... Jim or Lynn, if you get an order from Central Florida, I want a commission

My stock Randall model 15, and my small Sebenza. Those two cover just about anything I need to do with a knife.

Favorite Folder- Military with CPM 440V, I love the needle point and amazing cutting edge, the ergonomics are great too, not to mention the solid lockup. Favorite Fixed Blade- my Cold Steel Magnum Tanto IX; I never use it for anything but when you hold it it makes you feel like a samurai warrior!

Folders: I just received an old '93 large lefty Sebenza & I kick myself for not buying one around that time!!! Definately my fav. folder... until it gets some competition from a forthcoming RJ Q36... ^_^ Why: Because it's built like a TANK, feels good in the hand, looks asthetically pleasing & lends itself well to utility & defense. I look 4ward to getting a few more Sebbies in the future!

Fixed: RJ Martin 9.5" Kwaiken ^_^
Why: Well, let's see... It's practically a short sword, made impeccably, feels ALIVE in the hand & looks SEXY & DANGEROUS!!!

My favorite fixed blade is a 20 year old, beat up Randall mod 14.

Favorite folder... don't have one. I have been carrying a BM Stryker for the past year but could switch to another model of the same quality and not think too much about it.

favorite folder-my Terzuola ATCF

fixed blade-my Randall model 1-8 with stag handles

I don't carry a folder at this time, but I am looking in to having my father get me a Spyderco Military for my b-day...

My favorite fixed blade is, at this time, my new Busse Steel Heart Varient w/ a 4" clip point, 1.5" of large tooth serrations, and one BAD ATTITUDE!
It love to chop, cut, dig, and basically work the hell out of all of my other knives...
Thanks Bladeforums for turning me on to Busse!
Jess

I may change my mind as I have a Randall Made #16-7" Special Fighter coming in two weeks-I will be at MCRD, so I won't be able to tell you about it until the last week of April though...

Is this favorites owned, or favorites desired? Tough call...

Owned:
Folder: Case XX Peanut
Fixed: WW2 Bayonet

Desired:
Folder: Large Sebenza
Fixed: A great dagger that I can't recall the name of, but it was made from 3 pieces of barstock & cost around $700. Help me find it? Also came in a wooden display box.

Fixed Blade - has to be my trusted and indestructible Mad Dog atak2

Folder - too many to mention, but if I had to give up all my folders (what a horrible thought) I’d stay with the starmate.

My favorite knife, fixed or folder, is Bob Dozier's Professional Guide's Knife. Exquisitely simple and highly functional.

Nevermind the dog...beware of owner!

emerson commander - it is the fastest knife to draw ever. out of the pocket and in play is important and that knife does it best.
