All made for me by Jerry Hossom, www.hossom.com and the only custom knives I own that I feel I got far more for my money than I ever expected.

My current favorite folder is an Emerson CQC8 (a Christmas present from my wife).

Of the ones I have, AFCK because it has NEVER let me down on a cutting chore while looking great. For fixed that I have, I'd say my LTC kukri- rips through trail-covering bush without hesitation!

I guess I should weigh in on this since I started the thread.

My favorite folder is a Case Stockman with chestnut jigged bone scales. I like the warmth and deep color of the scales, the fact that I have 3 blades to choose from, and that I can do fine cutting tasks with the clip blade such as removing a splinter or whittling. I like it because I've carried it or a similar one for over 40 years and it works for me. I have lots of modern folders (and I always carry one) but the Case is always in my pocket. I also love the great tradition that Case knives stand for. This is the same kind of knife that both my grandfather and father carried. My dad's Case lasted for 25 years before he cracked the bone scales and had them replaced. The knife is still cutting.

My favorite fixed blade is a Marbles Fieldcraft. Here is another manufacturer with a legendary tradition. Everything about Marble says North Country Woods. Marble knives stand for a tradition of hunting and fishing in this country that is surely being threatened by public indifference, urban sprawl, and slob hunting and fishing.

The Fieldcraft is small enough to handle grouse but big enough with enough belly in the blade to skin a moose. The Marbles of today are better than Webster Marbles' original creations and the Fieldcraft is a great all-around fixed blade.

No doubt there are better knives in both styles but I enjoy the traditions embodied by the Marbles and Case names.

My Fav would be my Randall 1-7", with a maple burl handle. As for my reason, its my first handmade knife.

Sebenza with tanto blade (rare and functional).

Larry Harley boarsticker (Battle Bowie) - it works!

As of right now my favorite fixed blade is the Livesay Air Assault, but who knows after I get my Randall.

My favorite folder is my Benchmade mini-AFCK in M2 steel

My favorite folder is a Carson model 18,drop point CPM440v blade and titanium handles. This knife is tough as nails and fits my hand perfectly. The lock-up is bank-vault secure and the action is slicker than poop on ice.In most knives,it seems to be one or the other. The flipper makes it instinctive to open and serves well as a guard. The Elishewitz Diablo just joined the collection and it comes in a close second. It is imcredibly size-efficient and bridges the gap between Gentlemen`s folder and Tactical folder quite nicely.
As for fixed, the Jones brothers made a burlwood handled defensive knife that is shaped like a hawkbill, but has a sharpened "reverse tanto" on the trailing edge. The result is a knife that can trap, slash and stab.I think the Jone`s are really onto something with it.It was a prototype and it didn`t have a name when I bought it.If you are looking for a good fixed blade,I can recomment the Jones Bros.they do excellent work for a reasonable price and really excel at customer service.

My favorite folder is the Crawford KFF. It fits my hand perfectly and has excellent lockup.
Favorite fixed is Cold Steel's SRK. This knife is tough as nails and inexpensive enough for me to afford to use.

It depends on what day it is.
How can you pick one?
I can't pick 10.

RICK Left Handers Unite

OK, I'm gonna pull one out of left field here...

My favorite folder (of the knives I currently own) is a Spyderco DragonFly. It's enough blade for probably 80% of what I need a knife for and it's so d@mn handy. My new policy is to only answer questions like this based off of knives I do or have owned...

Runner-up, btw, is the small Sebenza and then the Spyderco Centofante II.

Favorite Folder: Commander. Great handle, fast opening, high quality.

Favorite Non-fixed Blade: Microtech Nemesis. Dual edged blade, slim, sleek, and sexy.

Favorite Fixed blade: Well right now it is a Darrel Ralph Krait, but I am having a custom made that will be totally awesome.

Later,
John

P.S. Brandon, I believe that you are talking about this knife if I am not mistaken:

Folder: Spyderco Military.
Why: Good blade geometry (thin point, belly). Amazingly ergonomic handle with full choil. Great blade steel. Very good value. Allows me to pretend I'm tough (I'm far too wimpy to have anything to do with the real military).

Fixed Blade: Helle Polar
Why: Extremely handy blade shape (small drop point). Laminated blade with no secondary bevels. Handle feels -great- and looks good. Only $30! Use it constantly.

Folder: ATS-34 AFCK w/ partial serrations
-why? this knife has yet to let me down when I needed it

Fixed: Carson U2, tanto point
-why? I get stuck in a "survival" situation, with this knife I can cut, chop, pry, dig and pretty much handle almost anything

no matter how many threads about "favorite knives, knives you carry" are started, they are always popular. My little brain was thinking about it and came out with the conclusion that we like talking about our knives (Doh).

Well, let it be:

My favorite folder is BM710. Why: Smootheness and robustness of axis lock, feel of the handle, size of the knife, overall looks and quality.

I don't have a favorite fixed blade

.
But I kind of like my Buck Kalinga when I go outdoors.

Right now:

Fixed: Boker Specialist - because of its size, weight, design and MCS sheath

Folder: Kershaw Whirlwind - because of its assisted opening system and blade shape. This one will soon be replaced with Kershaw Avalanche - the same features but better handle material and steel.
