A nice shape is the Eagle claw. I make a similar shape in a fixed blade. These were very popular in the Middle Ages with Pick Pockets also known as "cut purses" A very useful low profile knife. I used to make a lot of 4 1/2 inchers for ladies who liked to have one in their sewing kits Lee

I work for the federal gov't, and my favorite small pocket knife is a BM 730 (pocket), a Trace Rinaldi Enigma (inside pocket of my motorcycle jacket), and a Spyderco Moran (customized, in my desk). That's about as small as it gets.
Anymore when I travel I carry an Old Timer medium stockman, and it's not raised an eyebrow in the US or in Europe. It takes a nice edge, walks and talks better than most pocketknives that I've handled, and the three blades come in handy.
