Your Favorite Tough Folder

I've put my 84mm Victorinox Tinker through more abuse than any other folding knife. It's 19 years old and there's still no blade play. I'm sure some of my more expensive knives could handle the same treatment, but the Tinker has convinced me how strong knife steel and pivots really are on a decently made (but hardly high end) folding knife.

ZT 200st, 302, 500, Extrema ratio RAO... And since 12/25: HEST 2.0 & HTM Madd Maxx 5,5"

This has never failed in any task I've thrown it's way

I love my 710, too. Mine is only 154CM but it's still excellent. I do have an 806 in D2 and it's been through a lot. Still looks great for its age. Love the older BM designs.

Probably my Strider RW-1 and yes i'm going green you know to help out the planet. :D

Strider SmF. Thick everywhere with a quite usable edge. It took me five SnGs rotating through of various flavors to realize that the slightly bigger SmF, which is the original design of the three similar shapes - PT, SnG, SmF, is the best of 'em all! There are surely similarly sturdy knives out there... Most of them just don't "speak my language."

Hold Out II

14 months as a daily (ab)user and still going strong. Lock is as good as new and the edge has held up well despite the extreme grind thx to a micro bevel. Some scratches (or lots of scratches. I've cleaned it up once already ;)) is the only real damage.

Selection of tasks:

- Fishing. Gutting and cleaning fish. Stripping the line from hooks, opening sinkers, etc.

- Camping. A variety of things. Forcing my way into a can of tuna was probably the worst abuse. No batoning...

- Yard work. Cutting cord, cleaning brush and more.

- Electric work. Stripping cables, carving in sockets.

- House work. Lots and lots of cardboard/packages. Used it to clean up some tile adhesive. Pulled out some nails with the spine. More stuff I don't remember.

- Mechanics work. Bunch of smaller stuff.

Plus much, much more...

As a comparison: based on prior use if it was a Endura I would have replaced it within the first three to six months and if it was a Millie around six to nine months. Both of these would also have seen much more care and a lot less abuse.

It's basically replaced all the Moras I used to have laying around everywhere. The blade shape and ergonomics is just perfect for a utility knife and the price is just low enough for me not to be bothered about destroying it. Love it.

I like my Kershaw JunkYardDog. I bought three blems from Kershawguy. I had to cut up some boxes yesterday and my Gosh, that JYD just went through those boxes like butter. I guess it's the D2 edge, and of course it's very sharp. But I have/had a lot of folders, from PM2's to Hinderers, and I just haven't experienced that before.

A.G. Russell Sunfish lockback.

Only knife I've ever held that makes me think I could actually pry open a door with it. Short, stout, THICK (almost 1/4 inch) knife. Inspires more confidence in my hands than the ZT 302 that I used to own.

Tough folders and no one has mentioned the Tuff yet? That is a solid piece for sure.

Most will probably disagree, but I feel that my large sebenza is pretty damn tough. As long as you dont pry with it. ;)

Tough yes. But unwieldy for hard use. It is very uncomfortable, as well as having rather soft S35VN, that's why I've got mine in my safe and stopped using it for months. (Sebbie does 58-59 HRC, Paul Bos does s30v to 59.5-60 hrc the extra hrc really helps a lot)

Preferring my Buck vantage pro or custom fixed blade, and now in the present my benchmade shoki and zt 561.
