• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Your First Knife

This is a really nice knife! You are very fortunate to have it.

I have a skinning knife made by my great uncle from a file. It has a Birdseye Maple wood handle and a handmade leather sheath. I keep it locked away. He made other knives too. Mostly heavy kitchen knives life butcher knives.

I´m glad now that I didn´t do some touch-up work on it with steelwool like I did with some other stuff when I was a kid

Yes , It´s nice Rick1955. The pic doesn´t really do the knife justice. There is some engraving on the silver and the sheath is very detailed.

My first knife was an Imperial Schrade (I think) sliplock with 3 blades, spey, clip and sheepspoint. He got it at a hardware store for like $5 or something. My dad got it for me when I was 5 or 6 and said I could have it until I cut myself. 10 minutes later, I of course cut myself and didnt see it again for a year. then when I got it back, the handles fell off, so i used it as my first throwing knife and havent seen it since.

My first knife was a tiny SAK classic. Not much, but a bit deal then. Now relegated to a position in my bike bag/repair kit.

My first "real" knife is a spyderco Delica. At the time that was a big knife for me. (This from the guy who owns a Dozer Crossada)
I showed it (the delica) to a guy a work who tested the edge on his finger. I think he ended up with a couple of stiches... Be carfull who you show your "real" knives to!
