Your first Spyderco and what you own now?

Great question. My first Spyderco was a stainless Delica, which I bought retail for around $60 in 2002 or so (a D3?) at an LL Bean store. It's AUS-6. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Sharp, smooth, slick and attractive. I have EDC'd that knife more than anything else, including my wallet--in part because it was my introduction to real, quality folders.

Since then: Native, Cricket, Sebenza, and several other great knives from other quality makers. But nothing beats a Delica, IMHO. Today, I also have a G-10 D4 on order.

When I started buying knives I too thought spydies were way to ugly for me to own. While working at a knife store, I got to handle Natives (wal mart kind), E3 and D3s, stainless E3 and D3s, and I didnt like the way they felt in my hand, and I had lots of people asking me if they could return their E3or D3s because they broke the tips off.

In 2006 when I un packed the E4 and D4s I fell in love. Bought a pe/se E4 instantly. Lost it my sophomore year in college and bought a new one. Then I Got a wal mart native, a pe E4W, white FRN E4 pe, Black blade black FRN pe/se E4, pe D4, and a Tenacious.

I plan on getting a pe Manix 2, pe FRN Stretch, Centofante 3, Military, paramilitary, and maybe a Pac salt.

Probably add more to the list when I see what's coming in 2010. Will definitely be adding another Endura or Delica if we see FFG FRN versions.

First one was an Aluminum Herbst. Hated damn near everything about it except the Spyderhole. Still have it, but have never carried it. The hole convinced me to try again. Next one was an S30V C41 Native. That got me hooked. Still have it, still use it, although I've gravitated to other models for EDC. One of the next couple was a Kiwi. Still use that one as well. Have a rather sizable flock of them now :o plus a ton of other Spydercos. :D

My first was a delica 3 SE but it had a run in with the lawnmower blades after quite a few years of excellent service. Replaced it years later with a delica 4 PE. I just got in a Tenacious and have a white dragonfly on order. (The dragonfly came in. Sweet knife in white!) Recently added Caly3 carbon fiber, Meerkat and Lum chinese, the Tenacious is gone.

First one: Manix in Foliage Green, very luckily snapped one up for a reasonable price. This was just August of last year so I haven't been at this very long yet.

Currently have these, more will be coming, as soon as I figure out what I want. :)

My first was a PE salt1. Still have it & use it. Can't really say the same for the number that I have amassed since then. A lot of them just seem to come in to say hi & then bye on the way out.

I've kept a few favorites though.

Most of the ones that like to stay with me are the ones that like to play dress up.

My first was an SS/SE Delica I bought in the 90's. I was hooked but it would be quite a few years before I got any more Spydies, this was still my favorite knife of any I owned (mostly mall ninja'ish or cheap chinese knives.)

Much later came an SS/CE Endura 3 and an SS/CE Native. I then moved to the US that had much less restrictions on what you could own and carry. My knife purchases kind of exploded.

I never sold a knife, so apart from the above, I now own (from memory):

Pearl Kiwi
Hossom Woodlander
Hossom Dayhiker
Black/black CE Military
Orange Military
CPM-D2 Paramilitary
Rock Lobster
Emerson Delica
SE ZDP-189 Delica
CF S90V Manix II

CF/ZDP-189 Caly 3

2x ZDP-189 Mules
4x 9Cr18Mo Mules
Swick

REmember the first thing to go is the memory..... I got my SE Co-Pilot in the early 90,s???? Added the one with two names next (anybody help out, they were both sorta wierd Latin names maybe) then lost interest. My newest is the native in S30v. Still cary the two smaller ones EDC rotation. I like the "hole" better than a stud to this day.
