Have you ever had a knife w/ pocket clip fall out of your pocket?

Tell me your story...

Yes. I have had some knives fall out. As a matter of fact I had a Large Unique graphics Sebenza clipped to my pocket Christmas night. After my family left my wife and I started to clean up. i grabbed the trash from the kitchen to take outside then I felt something. I reached down to feel if my knife was there and it wasn't . I almost panicked. I then looked at the trash bag and noticed the bag caught my clip and stuck into the bag. When I lifted the bag up it pulled the knife from my pocket.

Wow only 1 reply.

I guess most of you forumers never had a knife fall out.

Should I take that back?

My wife was wearing some silky type pants and her Kershaw Leek fell from her pocket while she was out shopping. I bought her a new one and she was happy again. Someone however got a great condition Kershaw Leek that was only 6 months old.

I think there's two types of people that carry clipped knives. Those who have lost one and those who will. I don't remember specifics, but I know I've had them pulled from my pocket at least once. All clips are not created equal. I prefer them to be a shade tight and even then occasionally feel for my knife when I get up from a chair, sofa or from a vehicle to ease my mind. But I prefer that to them being loose in my pocket. I've lost them that way too.

As I think back, I did loose a Leatherman Sideclip while fishing. Looked in the weeds with a metal detector later to no avail.

I lost 2 Gerber EZ-Outs years ago. Same thing with both, pocket clip wore loose over time. I never found either.

I've also had a knife clip hang up on stuff, like my seat belt, or on a couch cushion. That's happened with my Mini Grip a few times.

The one knife that I never had a problem with is my Kershaw Skyline. The clip stays where I put it, and has never hung up on me.

That's interesting with the Mini grip, Sometimes I have a hard time pulling it outta my pocket, much less it falling, or getting pulled out..

It happened to me once. I lost a Spydie Endura on a dayhike many years ago. I think it popped out when I sat down on the ground for lunch b/c the pockets on the pants I was wearing were not really deep enough for an Endura. I should have taken the Delica!

Yup, once that I recall.

My Kershaw 1550 T, fell out when I was bailing hay.

I'm still pissed about that.

If you would have waited more than 24 minutes, people would have posted ;)

Yes, I've had a knife that came out of my pocket. It was the Spyderco Paramilitary1. I was walking around the office heading towards the copier when I remembered I needed to fax a document, I headed back to my office and I saw my knife on the floor. I was wearing cargo pants with the angled pockets (45* pocket cut outs). I freaked out a little, picked it up and carried it in my back pocket the rest of the day.

Fallkniven PXL came out on me once. I was in a back hallway in a shopping mall and went to use it to open up a skid and arghh no knife. I retraced my steps and the seatbelt on my truck had snagged it and I was happy again. The clip on that knife is set out quite a ways from the handle which is my only complaint. I have lost a lot of nice stuff over the years so it was nice to find that one quickly. Now I'm reminded to go check out Kijiji to see if my Case Dogleg or Novatac 120p are available. hehe

So far I've only had one go missing, still one too many for me.

Was at a friends place in a different city during the winter. A bottle of vodka and a very hap-hazard skating trip on the public canal later, I had some how managed to lose my Kershaw RAM. That was my first decent knife, and I still kick myself for losing it.

2 lost that i never recovered. BOTH cold steel 4 inch voyagers plain edge tantos.

1. clipped to my front pocket. after a long day of shipping motorcycle parts i noticed my knife was gone. i figured i was hunched over a big box when filling with packing material it fell in. someone got a surprise when they opened up their box of motorcycle parts.

2. clipped to right jean pocket. this is the knife that replaced the one above. had it when i got on the bike, after i got back i noticed is was gone.

oh well guess it wasn't meant to be. I looked into replacing yet another, but found out they are disco'd.

oh well if karma works i should be finding 2 knives any day now.

on a happy note i lost a kershaw shallot for almost 2 years. it popped up at my sister in laws couch when they were about to throw it out. i forgot i even owned it beacuse i lost it after maybe a month of carrying it.

Nope. I carry my knives deep, deep, deep in my pocket, and they have short, short, short clips on them. Guess that helps.

i had some clipped fall out getting out of my car (its pretty low) but some of the deep carry I havent had issues with.

,losin a knife is like losin your woman.........

i think this is the best explanation ive heard. i remember i lost a knife about 5 years ago, it was a cheap stainless steel kershaw i got from academy. i was so bumped about that, also it took me about 9 months to find a new one that i liked to buy.

but now i check pretty much everytime i get up since i now carry more expensive knives

Lost a Buck Bones that way. I'll take a fixed blade over a folder anyday, though unfortunately the presence of "sheeple" and unfriendly laws here aren't quite accommodating.
