Your knife clipped to pocket ever fall out?

I EDC a Benchmade HK14205 and it has never fallen out of my pocket. However, the clip snagged something and the knife was pulled out of my pocket while I was getting out of a chair and a car seat once.

Both times, the end of the clip somehow hooked onto a part of the chair or seat I was sitting in, and the clip was pulled outward and upward. One time the blade even whipped out and the whole thing smacked the pavement. The clip was actually bent outward both times, and I had to detach the clip and bend it back. The scales now have a couple dents from hitting the ground too.

I still really do not know how this happened or what the clip was caught on. I thought it was almost impossible for the little clip on my folder to snag something because the clip is so small and low profile. It's like as soon as I clipped that knife into my pocket, the universe tried to take it away from me :D.

I carried my D4W like this until I lost it. It fell out of my pocket while I was racing a friend. The biggest shame is that after the race, I checked to see if all of my other gear was still on me, but I didn't check for my knife.

I was at the mall pushing through racks of clothes because the "walkways" in the store were packed. Suddenly something didn't feel right. My knife that is always clipped in my right front pocket wasn't there. I retraced my steps and very shortly found it securely clipped to the sleeve of some blouse hanging on the rack. At least I found it.

Yep..lost a large regular sebenza around 2001.. I think I tore apart my house 3x looking for it..But alas, I think I lost it at a gas station when I was on vacation. :(

That sucks! I hope a knife nut found it and not some shmuck that didn't appreciate what he found. :(

Benchmade 940

Lost it running through the woods with the hound dog. I retraced my steps but it was nowhere to be found. At that point it was really the only knife I carried so I was quick to seek out a replacement. I bought a 770 cf which was too small, and then managed to get my hands on an REI edition 940-701. Should've stopped there but I kept on buying 'em until I amassed my present collection of somewhere around a dozen folders.

I've had them snag on seatbelts too.

I have had the clip on my leatherman and delica snap off in the last six months, didn't loose my knife, it just fell into my pocket. I did have my old scallion get pulled out by a shopping bag once.

That pocket is for a pocket watch. No Idea why they keep putting them on jeans. Other than it is great for a small knife. :D

I've only ever lost a buck 110 about 12 years ago. My dad gave it to me so it pissed me off that it was gone. I didn't have the sheath for it so I used to keep it in that little change pocket that all jeans seem to have, it was too heavy to keep in my pocket.
One day after work it was gone. Looked arround but no luck.

I can't wear a knife clipped hiking, because brush has caught the clips more than once and pulled it out. (well, I still do but not my best) Now I carry a cheaper knife in my pocket clipped and a better one in a belt sheath. The cheaper is used for quick cuts (thorns, brush in the path) while the better is there for back-up.

Have you ever had a knife w/ pocket clip fall out of your pocket?

Tell me your story...

In 1996 I was making sales calls with my District Parts Manager and I
had my Spyderco Q "Blade Magazine" knife clipped to the front pocket
of my dress slacks. My DPM was driving, and shortly after getting out
of the car at a customer's shop I realized my knife was missing. I felt
sick, didn't focus much on the conversation with the shop owner, and
was trying to think of all the places I'd been to that AM. My DPM is a
good guy and a knife nut himself, and would have retraced our visits
to find my knife if I asked him to.

When we got back to his car I was absolutely amazed to find my knife
lying in the gutter next to the car--obviously fallen out of my pocket as
I exited the vehicle. I looked carefully at the clip-a flimsy little piece
of wire- and decided never to trust a pocket clip again. Since then, I
have always de-clipped my knives as soon as I buy them and carry
them (usually) on my belt in a Benchmade soft sheath.

The clip is just not worth the risk.

lost a EDI Genisis II due to a stripped tight, loosely bent pocket clip. the oldest production knife i owned

I lost an issued Benchmade auto striker that was clipped to my pocket (most of us carried a blade on the outside of our gear) jumping into Dugway, Utah. I was the door jumper on a US Forest Service C-47 and my team was the only one out of the aircraft due to high winds. When we got to the turn in point it was missing and we were scattered over such a wide area there was no way to backtrack to point of impact to look for it.

I dropped my small Sebenza at pistol range during a qualification shoot which involved some rolling around on the ground. I noticed it right away and found it in a couple of minutes. I basically pocket carry now when I do carry it.

Lost a lg seb 21 2 months after I got it. I was at a birthday party. To this day I still don't know when, where, and how it fell out. How I have a little skateboard tape behind the clip to give the sebbie a little more solid clip to my pocket.

I have a 2 yo Military and it's clip is a little sloppy [i.e. loose], it's fallen out of my pocket a few times. I need to bend the clip back to tighten it. My ZTs have super tight clips and never budge - ever.

My father lost a Spyderco Salt while bay fishing from a boat near Port Aransas. Very odd how it happened. The clip had caught on a large landing net sitting in a vertical rod holder. Dad's backcast caught it and flung it out into the water, just as he realized he'd lost it and how. Quite a bit of searching turned up nothing. If ever found I'm curious how it'd look.

I've never had one come out of my pocket on accident in years of carrying. I have scraped up a lot of object walking by them and catching the clip though. :D I've even bent a couple of clips by snagging things as I squeeze by, but the knife has never come out of my pocket.

I should add that Chris Reeve uses the flimsiest clips of all the knives I own. Great knives, lousy clips.

My worst was a S60v Blur I picked up here for $45....still bummed about it, I had that knife crazy sharp

I had my new crkt tuition fall out while sitting in the waiting room of my wifes eye doctor....I called a few hours later when I noticed it was missing, I stopped in the next day, one of the ladies behind the counter grabbed a glove to pick it up and hand it to me, she said they were afraid to leave finger prints on it.... ridiculous

YES !
Once, I went to a friend's engagement party, and we met at his home first, to go to another friend's house after some drinks.
When we're at the party, I noticed that my Benchmade 770BC1 was not in my rear pocket, and I started to look for it on the floor... Later, I started to beat all my friends, thinking they could have taken it off my pocket as a joke...
And, after hours, I could not find it.
Two days later, my engaged friend called me he had found the small BM clipped to his coach, at his house... The house we met before we went to the party...

I told him... Now he could get married in peace...
