What has been the knife that had the biggest impact on either your collection, or use of knives of 2009?

I'll start off with mine, which had to be the RAT Cutlery Izula.

I picked up 2 this year and have had one around my neck nearly everyday since. From small packages to field dressing a dear, this small fixed blade has proven it is the perfect size for almost every common cutting task.

I have been totally impressed with the quality and edge holding, and a large drawer full of folders hate it as much as i like it! :D

Probably my Bravo 1 or spyderco paramilitary. Both great knives. I would add my sebena 21, but have had issues with that one, so its not on my list

Here’s mine.

BRK “Rio Grande” Bowie with Moran style handle,

…It has changed my opinion about big blades as serious choppers.

I would have to say that the knife that has made the biggest impact on the direction of my purchases, is the Emerson A-100. You really have to hold one to fully understand.

My small Sebenza. I bought it back in January, and have carried it every day since.

I did buy a TON of machetes this year though. 2009 was the year of the Sebenza and the machetes for me.

lame enough as it sounds it was my Wenger SI...I had put off buying a soldier or SI for many years, got one and it blew me out of the water how useful it is with everyday tasks.

I'd have to say my Ti/ZDP Leek. Sought one for quite a while, found one, and truly enjoy it. Great piece.

Wow there have Been a few. My UK Pen Knife has resparked my interest in Spydercos and I have bought several since dusting off the UKPK and using it. The Yuna EQ sparked my interest in small folders. My Scrapyard SOD got me into choppers and chopping things in general. And my small reg Sebenza is currently my favorite I'm carrying. I liked it so much I decided to have a custom wharny M4 blade with opening hole made for it.

Michael Morris File Necker. It was my introduction to custom knives:

I can't wait next year so I can pay my first custom and have my very first custom knife. Michael, if you're reading this: Thank you very much!

Have been looking at these; is it grippy enough for you? For me, it has to be the red Osborne, with the mini Barrage a close second. Am starting off '10 with a CS Lawman on order now and I think it will be a winner.

2009 started out with a Strider AR and a CRK Umnumzaan.

But I shifted to more traditional styles towards the middle of the year. I got three Buck customs and a new Northwoods Scagel folder. Now I'm waiting for a Case Bose Norfolk.

So I'd say the custom Bucks made an impact on my collection.

For me that would be my red BM 960 in D2, and then it would be my BM 10700 Nagara for a red box BM I really enjoy that knife.

My favs this year fall into two categories; modern, represented by this addictive Todd Begg Gent's Glimpse IKBS flipper with bamboo mosaic scales...

...and traditional, in the form of these stag Wharncliffe schnappers from Ohta and Zscherny:

The Chambriard Le Compagnon exists since a few years already but I only have mine since 6 months or so. A perfect and very elegant French-style companion knife:
