Why can't you make your blades easier to obtain. They are so exspensive that a common man could not even afford them. Even if a man could afford them, he could probley not find one! You market your blades "combat". Your knifes are not even use in a battle field, for a soilder could not even afford them on their salary.

Just like with all equipment...knives, firearms, vehicles, etc. you get what you pay for... And quality costs.

UNLIKE most other equipment, you only have to buy Busse once. As long as you do not intentionally damage the knife, it is guaranteed for life! Can you say that about most anything else???? :)

I am by no means rich. But I do have Busses.

Yes, they are expensive, but are worth every penny.

It's no different than buying a firearm (although most Busses cost hundreds of dollars less than one). Busse collectors and users save and wait.

As for finding one, there is Blade, the exchange, local gun and knife shows, and an evil online bidding site.

And as for them not being used in battle, there are military over run knives. I cannot speak for Jerry, but he does a lot for our soldiers to provide them the best tools so they can return home safely.

Oh, lifetime warrant, if I recall right, the warranty is for the life of the knife, not just the original buyer.

You can't get much better than that.

I agree with the OP it was a while before I figured out how to get a bussekin.
I wanted a Scrapyard Scrapper 6 for a hundred bucks, but went to the order page and it wasn't there.
Searched more and found out the only knife I could get was a regulator and if I wanted anything else I'd have to look on the secondary market but it would cost more.
Searched for a secondary market and found Knifeforums then two weeks later found Bladeforums.
They should make it easier to get these awesome knives, like maybe explain that you need to join the forums to have any clue if a product is coming.
I mean I couldn't get anything on the knives page back then, now its only the Scrapizashi.
At least put a link to the Busse / Swamprat / Scrapyard Knives For Sale exchange forum somewhere.
As far as cost goes its not too expensive for what you get.

The blades are a click away into the next sub-forum or another click or two to the Busse Combat website or Company Store.

These are semi custom knives made in the USA by Americans.

There are a lot of Busse and Busse Kin knives riding somewhere on chest-rigs all over the mid-east on soldiers in harms way.

I consider myself a common man. I currently own ~$1,600 worth of Busse & kin steel, in the form of a NMSFNO, Swamp Rat Waki, and my new pride and joy, a CG gladius.

I work for my money. I work overtime for anything extra I want. I save, and then I search the exchange for what I am after. The deals are out there, it takes patience and persistence.

When I was enlisted, I had more disposeable income than I do now, since Uncle Sam took care of some of my bills. For the product one receives from the Busse shop, the prices are plenty fair. I have no doubt that many of our troops, if so inclined, would be able to purchase one of the Busse knives, maybe not a custom shop variant, but the CG blades are easy to come by.

Perhaps you should save up and try one out before you start bashing a product you obviously know little about. Remember, No Regrets.

Do you go in the Aston Martin or Breitling forum and try to shame them?
Do you dog the makers of the Holland and Holland Shotgun ?
Same thing here.. If there wasnt a market for it there wouldnt be
BUSSE COMBAT!!
Does Nike make a 5 dollar Pic and Pay shoe?? An the list goes
on and on!!

Ignorance, especially posted publicly. That's embarassing. But, you have that right, just like Busse has the right to market as they do.

LMAO!! ;)

I thought about locking this thread... But decided to leave it open for now. However, instead of dogpiling the OP, please feel free to post pix of Busse's with soldiers and your lower cost Busse's in action at home.

Keep it civil, please... :) Thank you!

Great idea, Alex. Can't wait to see low-cost user pics from Bravado and Liu Kang! :D

I sent my 82nd Airborne son-in-law off to a year in Afghanistan with a Busse - I wouldn't have done any less.

It's not about price, it's about values.

My first cousin went to Afghanistan as a LT with one from me, and came back a CPT:p:cool:

i started buying busses while still in college . . . .
currently I am living off E-3 pay and still buying Busses. it's all about what you do with your money. busses are worth it

They are and have been in use "in a battle field" since at least 1983.

True, Busse knives are not in every sporting goods/big box/drug/convenience store. The company is not a large scale manufacturing company with blades made en masse and imported.

Please take some time and look around. Read, search, learn, and ask questions.

People here will be glad to help you.

It will get you much farther than posts making strong absolute statements as above.

Good luck in your quest for a Busse brand knife.

If we can help, just let us know.

Mike

I'm about as common as they come, with a household income that is firmly in the middle class range. Sure, I barely own a fraction of the number of Busses that others here own, but I find a way to get the ones I want. And they hold their value so well that if you buy one and then find that you just can't afford to keep it, you can get your money back out of it.

There are reasonably priced SAR3s available right now at bussecompanystore.com for around $200. They are priced in the same range as similar low-production knives by other makers in high end steels.

And when there aren't knives in stock at the company store, there are ALWAYS knives available on bussecombat.com that are made to order.

I was of the same mindset until I shut up, saved and bought the right models...

Scrapyard is the common man's knife, for 179.95 you could have had a Dogfather LE with a 10" Satin Finished blade with a lifetime guarantee. If I were still in the service, my choice would be my current Regulator, it would have taken the place of the TOPS Anaconda I actually carried which cost twice as much on an soldiers salary 15 years ago.

You save for the tools you carry, if they are quality, ultimately they will save you.

Good luck in your future endeavors, if you need any advice email me. ;)

By this point I'm just echoing what others have already said, but the Busse / Bussekin knives are very high-quality products with warranties and customer service that are truly second to none. You absolutely always get what you pay for, and the quality remains after the price is forgotten. The knives are always for sale on the exchange here on blade forums, and there are some great deals to be had from time to time. Don't bash something simply because of it's price tag, more often than not there is a reason for the high price.

Sorry that doesn't flow any better than it does, but that just about sums it up.
